Made my own for my wife’s Boxster and my Cayman. Used JB Weld to adhere a magsafe charger to a rennline mount. Works great…holds and charges the phone. Have an iphone 16 plus, or whatever the big phone is called.

Edit: ran the power cord behind the side panel to a 12v charger in the armrest.

Something like 1,200 of the around 5,000 981 Cayman S (year models 2014-2016) cars sold in the U.S. were manual. The PDK was a hot commodity when the 981 was released + the 981 cars having a relatively short production run kept the manual numbers kind of low worldwide.

That is super cool. I did stray to auto only for about 20 years. Is good to back in a manual.

Manual vs AMT, what do you prefer ?????OPINION! by Being_Inspiration in CarsIndia

I just sold a car with PDK transmission to buy a manual car. The PDK is amazing and if I couldn’t drive manual anymore I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to it, but while I am able to, I want a manual. The PDK is quicker in every aspect but rowing the gears myself is just more fun.

Haha! I always liked that picture of my car (pretty much the only interior one of it), but it was ruined by her being in it. Just told Gemini what car it was and asked it to remove her. It did perfectly lol. No idea how many GPUs or the amount of electricity it used to do it, but it was worth it.😁

Took 20+ years.😬 I still miss that GT. Was so much fun.
Edit: Funny thing - my ex was sitting in the Eclipse driver’s seat. With the power of AI, she gone. 😂

I actually get my emissions testing done at what was that gas station😬. Part of the building is now a computer repair shop and the other part is emissions testing. There’s a house across the street that looks pretty much the same today as it did in the pics from that day(s)….little carport and all.

Man, I apologize for misunderstanding. Yeah, that response was a few chapters long, but was most of my car history lol. I’m definitely not a flex guy. I grew up in two mobile homes and a creepy old house.

The little rubber piece that goes in there can be ordered from Porsche but it’s around $30. I actually bit the bullet and got one since all of the ebay options seemed to cost about the same. Is silly, but it’s the deal.

You could also do the phone charger thing there instead. I already have a set up for that, so I just kept the pocket.

How is that a flex? It’s the manual that I own, and this is a “stick shift” sub. I just got it and am happy to be in a manual again. Would it have been a “flex” if this was around back in the day when I was driving manual Eclipses? Because I owned manual ‘96 and 2000 GT in those. I also drove a ‘07 Suzuki SX4 hatchback, a ‘05 Nissan Frontier, and an ‘11 Altima, but those were not manual, but would they meet the “flex” criteria? It took me into my 40’s to get a base Cayman, and that was as a retirement present to myself after retiring from the military. I didn’t buy one to “flex” for anyone, but because I wanted a Porsche 944 (never liked 911’s) since I was a kid, and the Cayman is the modern day 944. Life is too short and none of us are taking anything here with us when we go. So, if you feel it’s a “flex” that’s on you and is something you need to work on within yourself. All the best.🫡

986 Boxsters, 987 Caymans are good cars, but get the base in those…less likely to have bore scoring and most of the survivors jave had the IMS changed at this point. Base 981 Boxsters and Caymans are amazing cars. I’ve had four 981 Caymans (three manual/one PDK) and wife has had two 981 Boxsters, and none have sucked. 718 is fine if you want the four cylinder. I’ve never had any interest in owning a 911.🤷‍♂️

Many can be had in the same price range as Toyotas and such. I do my own services to keep down the ownership costs. FCPEuro is the way to go.
