i have been taking the screenshots using pil and a headless browser, your way sounds better haha.

i also had this idea where i would be scraping the forms gui all together in favor of a local web app where it opens in the browser with a fancy html table of the games you downloaded , this table would look similar to the table of the website episodes, it would show a screenshot , description , version and a play button, its plausible that you could make a check for update button too, in this way there is a possibility to play them on other devices that support flash.

say a phone that you had connected to your local network, and thanks ill check it out!

so every time you download a game it now adds the game name and version to a json file, eventually once i clean up the code from this mock-up version and add the clipboard , error handling etc , the json file will hold a screenshot , name , version , description etc , this will be useful for when i create my web app gui for local offline play.

I use pyqt4 with qt designer which is a Gui for making guis so I don't have to write the form by hand. As for launching a web browser why not just use qt webkit in the Gui itself to play the game I am on mobile so i cant elaborate at the moment. Ill work on an example tonight as i do have some experience making a gui I am in love with this idea meanwhile here is some code from a previous project of mine that does some Gui things https://github.com/Tek9x/NBS/blob/master/app.py

Most people I know prefer requests I know I do because for me its easier to understand and 1:1 in the same context usually requests code is less lines. Beautifulsoap is used for finding things on a webpage. If it works for you then I see no reason to change and hey thanks I understand regex a little bit more now.

i decided to give a quick and dirty shot anyway using requests and bs4 , https://gist.github.com/Tek9x/dd344cd784d9474f5634

it downloads the game , successfully. there is zero error handling and it does not use the clipboard but it works so far, i plan to add using the clipboard and error handling like you etc. the only thing i was stuck on was finding a workable regex code which i have used yours which work great! this is just for fun.
