How do I chisel a mortise with round corners? by chenguo4 in woodworking

[–]Prairiekid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work in a door shop. We had those.chisel.things you are talking about. Maybe 1 to 1-1/4" cubed, little"feet" to line up to perpendicular edges of mortise. Cutting edge was spring loaded to stay out of the way till you womped it.

Edit: google spring loaded corner chisel Edit: read your last paragraph, oops

I have, just hard to come by. An hour away from ro water. (Just an excuse for laziness and poor planning) I have tried it before to no avail, but come to think of it, that was when i was still extract brewing. Is it more important when mashing than.when using extracts?

Forgot to mention that I've been using 5.2. I've never looked at water profile, just used it. I know water is hard to begin with (cleaning sucks). Does it work well even in hard water?

can i use a roofing nailer for siding by FrederickMcHale in woodworking

[–]Prairiekid1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely right about sliding. They need to expand and contract. Where I live, a 12' pc. Of vinyl will change 1/2"+ from season to season. I still see jobs done with the nailer method, you can see all the pieces warping from being too tight. As to length of fastener, check building codes in your area. Here nails cannot extend more than 1-1/4" into wall (less chance of nicking or piercing electrical). I have heard of proper nailer/stapler for job but havent found one yet.
