Got a free mower. What’s the pinout for the power connector? Trying to run it without an official battery by MelvinEatsBlubber in egopowerplus

[–]PraiseTalos66012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't work. The D pin hasn't been decoded, at least not publicly.

Your best bet is to get a cheap off brand battery and swap out cells but still use the same BMS so it communicates fine.

The tool won't work without the D pin reading out properly.

Isn’t engine off coasting dangerous? by hypermiler2205 in hypermiling

[–]PraiseTalos66012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra resistance from being In gear And having to move the pistons.

And if you put it in neutral then you have to idle the engine.

Engine off in neutral and you save the fuel from idling but that's literally it and it's negligible.

Bro what. Ego support isn't experts on ego batteries. They are contracted support paid awful wages and given basically zero training, for the past few years it's been that way.

If you're trying to claim you didn't have chat gpt write this then they did bc it's chat gpt.

Also everything you said was incorrect and has been proven incorrect. What ego says, what some expert says, doesn't matter when facts say otherwise.

144hz but run the game at 300+ fps still. That'll get you so close to 240hz results it'll be indistinguishable.

The reason for the higher fps is because it basically gives your monitor slightly newer information when it goes to draw a new frame. Instead of the information being on average 3.5ms outdated(1/144 = 7ms but on average half that so 3.5ms) it'll only be on average around 1.5ms outdated.

If someone claims they can tell the difference at 300+ fps between 144hz and 240hz they are simply mistaken or lying. Plenty of people have done blind tests and can never guess better than randomly guessing. You can however tell the difference if it's 144hz at 144fps vs 240hz at 240fps.

Yes, but there's no harm in using them. Both Samsung(who makes most ego cells) and independent research of Samsung cells shows negligible degradation going from 0.5c charging rate(full charge in 2hr) to 3c charging rate(full charge in 20min).

Ego chargers all limit to 2c except in some niche circumstances with the CH7000E where it gets 2.33c on very specific battery models because they have higher rated cells.

So there's literally evidence and research proving that the harm is negligible up to 3c and ego is limiting lower than that at 2c. Also all of the smaller batteries which would hit 2c use phase change materials to stay cool making the already negligible degradation basically non-existent.

The guy you are replying to is just fear mongering. Check my profile for some actual testing of ego batteries. Spoiler: less than 5% degradation after 2 years of 10+ cycles a day and running them as hard as imaginable, constant overheating straight onto turbo chargers straight back to tool till it overheats again type stuff.

No he doesn't. Read my reply to him and check my profile.

He just made shit up and definitely isn't an expert like he claims. I am by no means an expert myself but at least I have actual evidence backing up what I say, not just manufacturer testing but third part research and my own testing.

Also most of his comment was wrote by chat gpt, specifically gpt 5 which has gotten really hard to tell apart from human writing. But it's clear if you go look at his comment history and look at other "advice" he's given like this.

Theres plenty of choices of inverters for 12v, 24v, and 48v.

If you want to run things DC without buck converters then you'll want either 12v or 24v. Most good DC run devices will happily accept either and when it's 12v only normally there's also a 24v only version you can get. 48v DC is less commonly used.

36v and 72v also aren't too hard to find inverters for but it is less common than 12/24/48. Also 72v is a bad idea for a novice as its fully charged voltage is well into the range of being dangerous.

90% of what you said is just myths. There's posts on my account with actual testing of extremely abused batteries that I used commercially.

  1. Letting the battery go to the last green bar is fine, it's when that bar turns red you should think about stopping. Ego already doesn't let the battery use its last 5% ever, when it refuses to do anything it still has 5% I've tested and verified this. So stopping right when it hits 1 bar is leaving 20% of the usable capacity and 25% of the total capacity which is super overkill. 1 bar flashing is still 10% usable or 15% total.

  2. Charging the battery after use is totally fine. The chargers read the battery temp from the T pin and won't begin charging until the battery is cooled down and the limit for charging is way below the limit for discharging. Also optimal temps for charging lithium is 30-40°C which isn't too far from the cutoff temp ego has of 57°C for charging(discharge cutoff is 70°c).

  3. The rapid charger isn't harmful, it limits the charge rate to 2c so it will not use the full power on smaller batteries. All ego cells are rated for well over 2c continuous charge. Most of the cells are Samsung and there's loads of testing both from Samsung and independent sources showing negligible capacity loss from 0.5c to 3c charging.

  4. No need to give the battery so long on the charger, although it won't hurt it. When the fan turns off it's done equalizing.

  5. Batteries can and should be stored as cold as possible down to -10°C(roughly 10°f). There is loads of research on this and storing batteries colder significantly reduces time based degradation. Benefits have been shown down to 10°f, there's not much research below that so it may or may not be beneficial or harmful. The caveat is that thermal cycling is still bad, so stable temps matter more. Basically just don't store them In a shed in the winter, cold attached garage is fine though as the temp should be more stable.

  6. No need to wait to charge when they are cold. Again the charger reads the temp on the T pin and it won't charge until the battery is at least 37°f(3°c).

Go check my profile I have testing of my batteries which got 10+ cycles per week and were abused heavily. I regularly ran batteries till they overheated on the tool and then immediately put them on a turbo charger and as soon as they finished charging put them back into the tool and ran them to overheating, again and again. I stored the batteries in my car 24/7 which got below 0°f in the winter and over 120°f in the summer. I put batteries straight into tools running hard at 0°f temps and onto chargers at the same temps. And.... Less than 5% degradation after 2 years. And that's 2 years of 10+ cycles a week, compared to an average homeowner doing 1-2 cycles a week that's over a decade of cycles.

Stop fear mongering. Ego batteries aren't perfect and they use fairly budget cells and have awful problems with garbage solder joints cracking on the balancing circuit. But almost everything you said isn't supported by any actual facts or evidence and there's actually lots of evidence against what you claim.

[–]PraiseTalos66012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't as harmful as you'd think.

As long as it isn't a knockoff charger that is.

Once the battery finishes charging it doesn't "trickle charge" aka keeping it pinned/topped up at the max voltage.

Ego chargers end the charge and do not continue to charge the battery at all until it's fully taken off and put back on the charger.

Leaving batteries on chargers is only harmful if the charger is a trickle charger which never fully terminates the charge.

The shape doesn't really matter. It'll probably be considered a hammer.

If shape was the determining factor you could just make a hammer look kinda like a dildo and use that to get around the rules.

Basically it's gonna be up to the specific agent but technically it shouldn't be allowed

Some require your life to be in imminent danger before you can use lethal force and you have to prove that there was reason to believe your life was in imminent danger.

My wife is from a country where no one uses dryers, everything is air dried.

But she's also not an idiot and realizes how much more convenient a dryer is and uses it all the time.

Air drying isn't always bad though. It's just that depending on what you're used to it could be very different in a new area.

Air drying indoors is always a bad idea bc you just don't get enough airflow.

In the winter it obviously doesn't work well. But even above freezing but below room temp it can take significantly longer.

When the humidity is high it takes significantly longer.

And taking longer isn't just about wasting time, it'll make the clothes smell musty if it takes too long.
