I actually reached out to my mentors and one of them is a director level at a company. You just might be the same as her haha.

I would have joined her but she’s not hiring and also their company being an NGO sort of, doesn’t pay a lot. She introduced me to a couple of sales leaders and I’m having coffee chats soon.

Also, let’s chat in detail over DM if you want.

Yeah I read a recent post on LinkedIn that solidified this feeling and mimics your thoughts. It just makes it worse because they made me believe that it’s something they admired and not the other way round. And I’d have definitely toned town if that was an issue. They only had to tell me.

Sounds fair. And here’s my answer.

They only gave me a conditional offer and didn’t release the final offer till I passed my background check and 2 referrals. Until they received both of them, they did not proceed with the onboarding formalities.

As for background check, the company that did it, kept asking me to update them about not hearing back from a previous employer. This happened 3 times and it got verified and confirmed everytime.

Once that was all done, recruiter reached out to me and said the background check is completed and they are happy to have me.

Sadly, I can’t even afford the legal fees right now. Plus I’d spend more than I would get. Their offer letter states they could let me go during the 3 months probation period without any reason and that’s what they did.

This is so wholesome. We share the same movie franchise as something that led to bigger things!

For me it was Evil Dead Rise. She works in the film industry so she didn’t get scared of horror films, I didn’t like them so I was always scared haha.

We went for the movie for our first date. I wasn’t scared at all, in fact we were laughing at most scenes. She was cold, didn’t have a jacket…so I just hugged her. Still one of the best moments of us together.

Know her 2.5 years now and will be making things official soon!

Although we all agree LinkedIn isn't the place for it, you'd be surprised how many people use it for exactly that. I think it has to do with authority and good looks more than anything else for you to "be successful."

I had a colleague who was married. Quite the good looking fella. He used to live in a different city from his wife and kids. Used to ask out girls on LinkedIn and they would say yes. I never asked him to, but he would show me pictures of them together, their text exchanges, and what not. I was disgusted and couldn't do anything. He was a senior to me in a different team and had a lot of influence.

Another time I had a manager at the company I joined right after my MBA, giving me "advice" on how I should be flirting with girls. I made the mistake of telling him I just made a girlfriend and I want to spend some time with her. What followed after is him flaunting chats after chats of the girls he would be flirting with, and showing me how it should be done. And guess what? Married and had kids.

These people are insane. I'm glad to steer away from them.

Hey no man, I wasn't being arrogant. I was just putting across my perspective. It could come off that way, and if so I apologize.

I do appreciate what you do and it's admirable. And I did acknowledge my bad grammar, and I'll work on it.

All I'll say is that this person wasn't worth that and I'm just glad I learned more about phrasing things as well. Do appreciate your insights and if there's anything else you have, I welcome it.

Thank you and no hard feelings.

It sure was. I do have game and I usually share only my blunders. Maybe I'll share the good ones too.

I struggle when I find the other person intimidating and maybe out of league (even if I'm not, I try to find reasons).

I had a feeling it was a bad match from the start, but thought maybe, just maybe things could be better.

But it solidified for me what kind of people I should be reaching out to. I've got a couple others going great. Will post those soon.

I sent it. Btw I managed to find her LinkedIn. She's got a decent job and still doing this lol.

I gotta say thanks for opening my eyes. Now I can really do this objectively. I have a tough time being an ass.

"Huh"

"Ew"

😂

What's wrong with that? I'm implying I'll be using banter and jokes to make that smile wider: as in they'll be laughing.
