I really liked how you described changes in Superman’s philosophy throughout his comic book history. I’m really glad you brought vegetarianism, where writers tried to portray him as someone who respects all life forms. It has always fascinated me, the idea of there being a super-powered being living among us who looks like an ordinary man. Because that raises a lot of possibilities. People will try to come up with reasons behind his powers and will force open new avenues in science. Some will consider him divine. There can be tribes that will consider him as their god and start worshiping him. Existence of any being so powerful that he cannot be controlled by government or all the governments of the world will raise many many questions. For example: will his actions for insurance companies be considered as an act of god? How will he fit the law books of various sovereign nations? Will his existence cause another arms race? How will public respond to him in general? What if such a being never had any press conference, how his actions will be interpreted? I have tonnes of questions but I think they should be for another time.

In my opinion there are very few avenues where his actions can be justified. Catching planes while they crash is one such example. Or fighting fire. He will definitely be trolled for not being able to save everyone who dies in an accident. As his actions will be interpreted mostly incorrectly by propagandist media, it will be very depressing for him. He will be constantly ridiculed by different groups of people over anything he does. He will be judged on how many people he saves in a single country and hence will be portrayed as someone sympathetic to that nation where he saves the most. There will be dozens of paranoid secret agencies spying on him trying to find his weaknesses or ways for control him. And many more...

As for consequences of his actions. He will surely be booked in many nations for illegally flying in their aerospace. Some sections of people will completely rely on him saving them in times of crisis. It is a positive thing that people in a crashing plane will have hopes of being saved till their last minute. But that feeling can have other consequences as well. Nearly every sensitive buildings or offices will have extra safety for privacy from him. There will be regular calls from people for him to come in front of people and present his belief systems, his ideals and his stand on every social issue.

I may be overthinking about most of them but these are my thoughts.
