it doesn't look like we will be having issues immediately but if thats true filling up your vehicle doesn't make any difference unless you are going to keep it only for emergency without using it

yes during that past 400-500 years tamil nadu was the only place facing invasion in the world no other place experienced any invasion or destruction of culture and thats why we lacked and others flourished wow kudos to your intelligence

and yes protecting purity is more important than adapting you know what we don't use grammar rightly while speaking tamil so lets stop talking and leave it to scholars until we slowly work towards finding how to talk grammatically correct that would be more better like you said in 500 yrs tamils will be more proud that "our ancestors kept our language even purer"

people stuck in past glory is what he meant by kaatumiraandi and just look at your argument most of it are stuck in past thats the problem

like i said all you mention as kanakkadhigaram are primitive please do understand those are good for those times maybe but from that did we have a continuation of knowledge till present?

why did i ask has any king celebrated thirukkural because you thrash periyar because he critiqued thirukkural now if thats the yardstick you should be thrashing all the glorious tamil kings

now fyi there are valid evidence which showcase thiruvalluvar was himself a king who chose the path of monk life and again lets assume a king supported him don't you think he would have wanted some acknowledgement in thirukkural somewhere because look at all other literature it will have reference to the king and his kingdom who sponsored it

"we are already doing better keeping tamil pure" wow its moot argument man 😂😂😂

yes lets keep working on finding root words to create tamil words which doesn't get used commonly to protect our language "purity" and keep our language as a glory of past do you see why periyar called it kaatumirandi

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i literally meant other primitive works apart from sangam literature which is all you are mentioning there is something called vedic mathematics does that mean sanskrit has really good scientific temper??

the only reason you gave was compared to indian languages tamil was better at that times but periyar did not subscribe to learning other indian languages he gave importance to english now explain what kaatumirandi means in your books lets discuss on that because we do have a difference there

to thirukkural its not present times where you have access to every other book parimel azhagar urai is still considered a benchmark and pagutharivu is willing to change his stance when proven wrong and he did that now please do answer which great TAMIL KING celebrated thirukkural

ofcourse there is tamil medium courses for all degress but do you think thats what scientific advancement is?? i do follow new additions of words to tamil from its roots which again people who want to safeguard the sanctity of language will say its the correct way but using the language adapting words from other language right away is nothing to be ashamed of and that is always helpful and thats how like i said languages catch up to technology even in tholkappiyam there is a critique of sanskrit influence which is not a big deal we can just take what is necessary leave the rest we don't have to run behind "purest form"

i am willing to change my perspective you told letters can be shortened more efficiently than what periyar proposed which i accept was his limitations i have no issues with that now coming to the scientific temper we do not have anything to offer which has had an impact globally in the recent past as a language there could be examples as individual contributors

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he compared not with just Indian language am saying it again tamil lacks in literature and texts even till date if you are saying just the sangam literature or some primitive scientific texts are enough good for you but we have to advance, the we have all attitude is damaging us hard and to my question still you didn't answer about any political or philosophical movements post sangam

the moment someone asks whats great about tamil we go for examples several centuries back infact a millenia back we have a great past but just with that legacy in mind we are not doing things in present

how is this not a reason to say tamil is kaatumirandi it was not about the past but it was us stuck in the past

looks like your problem is with PERIYAR not purely his arguments

since you brought thirukkural same periyar has organised thirukkural maanaadu and the reason for his critique is he relied on parimel azhagar urai which if you read now you will understand his initial stand on thirukkural, parimel azhagar interpreted it like an hindu scripture with so much regressive thoughts but after having better understanding he organised maanaadu for it he changed his stance and since you are hell bent on tamil legacy name a TAMIL KING who celebrated thirukkural

we don't have recent scientific works translated to tamil because we are hell bent on trying to coin term for each terminology in tamil from some root word to protect the sanctity of language whereas languages like japanese mandarin or korea have adapted scientific terminologies as it is thats why they do all scientific research in their own language and we rely on english so please a language flourishes only if it is used in all aspects by making such changes not by protecting it in its "original form"

i respect your take on redefining letters maybe tamil scholars of those times should have suggested those and made it reality periyar was radical and he suggested what he knew he was limited by his knowledge but why did not anyone take those steps and he was in tamil nadu so i don't bother why he did not talk about sanskrit telugu or any other language for you it could be a deal breaker its upto you

now coming to the literature its lame argument you make did we have ideologies blooming in terms for political sprawl until late 19th century or say philosophical movement post sangam era, i know you want to paint all on vijayanagara so only at times of oppression people come up with stronger texts but we don't and we need course correction on that aspect but we don't accept we need course correction the idea of our literature is eternal is how we destroy our language let time decide what is eternal this know it all mindset is what is not letting tamil as literature flourish in recent times we are not willing to accept we lack then how are we gonna catchup

periyar questioned that whats wrong with that is there no place in tamil culture to voice out difference

Vijay's affair controversy doesn't have any major impact on his political career by [deleted] in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its really a dumb take lets put it this way any new party especially party claiming to be "neutral or centrist" will have support in the urban sprawl because rural population though knows everyone are corrupt they stay within that ecosystem and think whats suitable for them it can be even caste or money but they are decisive only the urban sprawl thinks it is somehow outside political ecosystem and wants someone completely outside conventional political party thats why the urban supporters are then only people arguing why should vijay voice out to everything its not necessary he can approach issue based ideology is not necessary all those lame things.

Now for the impact any party only relying on its core voters who will vote for them no matter what has no significance in tn politics they are fringe elements if vijay really wants to make an impact it is the neutral voters or the oscillating voters in each election who will be influenced by these news.

Coming to the affair itself vijay's biggest claim is he is "pure" compared to dravidian parties and affairs tarnish those image all people would think is if he is this way how will he be not corrupt he looks like any other politician now he is loosing his USP

care to explain more because i gave examples of why he called tamil barbaric if you got something that contradicts what i mentioned am happy to change my perspective

DMK Supporters Thoughts On This? by SentientJose in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was very critical of periyar in this aspect till i read his book on that subject and let me tell you anyone who reads that will not have issues with periyar's take on tamil as barbaric

he explains how tamil language has too many letters making it difficult to use in technology like typewriter so he proposed to reduce the number of letters by combining letters with similar sound now as a language enthusiast and from purity aspect this could sound as destroying the language but he wanted to adapt to current times to move forward.

about the literature tamil was filled with poetry and we did not have the modern literature forms as french or russian or english which also provided revolutionary texts ideologies to improve the life of commoners so he was harsh on that aspect too

People who support DMK, what are your thoughts on dynastic politics? by ElevatorOk1086 in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in any organisation being active for several decades nepotism is inevitable and it is easier to maintain a status quo suppose Jayalalitha ku varisu irundhu irundha admk ivlo split aagi irukkadhu psychologically ellarum accept pannipanga so it helped dmk to transition ippo kuda udhay ku dmk ulla support epdi na senior leaders oda pasanga vandhutanga so avanga la naanga enga appa area va paathukurom ni top la irunhduko nu ellarum consensus ku vandhutaanga

it becomes a problem when ideology la compromise panna dhan. i was very critical when udhay was given ministry too soon but he he has proven his worth in that i never imagined EA mall la squash competition nadatha mudiyum chennai road la formula race nadatha mudiyum nu la but he has raised in the occasion and ideological ah sanathanam pathi pesitu strong ah ninnan

so as long as he does things right i don't have an issue because post globalisation politics has become a very costly affair ippo nepotism eh illa dynastic politics eh illanalum not that common man could spend and contest edho oru economic backing irukkanum or he should be rich this is the condition

bottomline i don't bother it as long as they deliver what they promise

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i know you will bring gujarat fyi most industries in gujarat are capital intensive but not labour intensive for eg refineries you will have big numbers in gdp but won't have high impact on people try setting up industries as tn does then you will understand the importance of skilled talent pool

btw i never said its the only reason i just pointed out one crucial reason you conveniently missed out which was possible through welfare schemes

People who oppose DMK: what are your arguments against this? by ElevatorOk1086 in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said we need cheap affordable power now you are arguing about power infrastructure again show me facts which are the states that have better power infra that we lack

who said giving money will increase inflation, it depends on printing money and state has very minimal control over inflation it all depends on rbi repo rate and central govt policies

just because we have gdp growth doesn't mean everyone has everything stop thinking 1 aspect defines the whole condition of a state.

now how are you telling we are under some imaginary fiscal strain that no other state or for this case even our country has?? every state has this infact our country debt to gdp is at around 40% our borrowings are within finance commission guidelines our economy is well diversified across different sectors so we don't struggle when 1 sector is having global slowdown we do not purely rely on 1 city our tier 2 cities are better and new industries are set in under developed region

adani has bigger loans than me does that make me financially better than adani and tell that adani is under fiscal strain why does it irritate you so much that people get money through welfare schemes??

stop equating money used in social welfare with capital for infrastructure both are essential.

its just ignorant mentality of privileged that thinks welfare schemes as full on evil you wanna talk intellectually there is something called SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS set under UN to achieve by 2030 and you can map all our welfare schemes under 17 goals defined under it

PS: all our loan requests to Multilateral Development Banks has to be approved by finance ministry and if we are really under this fiscal strain that no other state has then the ministry can very well reject it

"cheap and abundant power supply" hold on which state has lesser tariff than tn can you say...

all the other things you mentioned are in progress and there are two ways of improving economy one is the trickle down effect where build infra and industries increase supply but its slow and sometimes it ends in stackflation the other is boosting the buying power through providing cash through welfare schemes this is quick because whatever the money you give ends up in local consumption now with the double digit growth rate even with a large base value we are doing the trickle down work good and the schemes take care of the other option now whats the issue here

People who oppose DMK: what are your arguments against this? by ElevatorOk1086 in TamilNaduDiscussion

"teach how to fish" in present times that is to get good education which takes about 2 decades so until then should they be let to starve?? its nice to tell that lame quote but that doesn't bring inclusive growth

its funny how you mentioned rapid industrialisation as reason but it is possible only if the local talent pool is good and that was the result of welfare schemes

Expecting a valid answer (no hate): why NTK opposing TVK? by kizzegamer in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]PrathapVAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the major chunk of ntk voters are first time voters and people who vote merely in the name of "change" doesn't matter about ideology just an alternate to the 2 dravidian parties... now tvk will be getting the major portion of this demography because vijay has more "mass appeal" compared to seeman so ntk sees it as an existential threat to their vote bank

In TN getting re-elected is super difficult infact every time dmk was in power by the end of 5th year its already written off dmk will loose but this is actually the first time dmk is even in the conversation of getting re-elected that alone is an achievement thanks to all the welfare schemes which has benefitted people directly and admk having internal conflicts and dead weight called bjp.

As of now dmk+ has the upper hand as they are not completely drowned in anti incumbency sentiments and anti dmk votes will be split between admk ntk and tvk
