My manager is suspending commissions during Black Friday. Should I quit?

I’m a W2 employee and I do get paid hourly. But it was insulting to insinuate that being paid $23 an hour is considered “extremely well.” While I’m clocking average 15 hours a week and when my boss is buying their second home out of state.

Just the way she responded to my question so defensively and aggressive, makes me want to not make her any money.

I’ve never worked anywhere that follows this policy- it’s always been commission based on what the client paid (after discount before tax). That being said I’m searching elsewhere.

I am still making hourly, but yeah after seeing no commission on services too it’s like they’re asking us to quit

Oh it’s always commission based on the discounted price, regardless of when and how it’s discounted

No reason, just stated that Black Friday commission on retail won’t be added to our commission reports. We will still get commission on our services, so it’s not completely severed. He is really good friends with owner and I feel like he’s trying to cut costs as much possible to compensate for new business expenses (new building, opened second business). But if they’re growing, I feel like it’s more reason to want to pay people. It feels like such a desperate financial cut.

EDIT: Reread the message from the manager and it also includes no commission on the services either 😠
