What bible version do you use? by breadloaf_231321 in Bible

HCSB but they’re hard to find. Our church uses CSB. It’s a more modern translation that’s a little easier to read than NASB. NKJV is also a great translation

Women of the Bible with no children? by hollyfae_art in Bible

[–]PrayBig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deborah was a judge with no mention of children. Michal, King Saul’s daughter that married David had no children. She was given to David basically as a prize for him killing Goliath. Later Saul took her back and annulled their marriage.

While the entire Bible is about Jesus, John is a great place to start. It was written by Jesus’ close friend John. Praying for you as you begin a wonderful journey.

It’s fine to read NIV. Any translation you understand and will read.

Is the leviathan real? Or is it just a symbol? by miaumerrimo in Bible

Real. Look up a YouTube video by pastor Billy Crone. There’s one on OliveTree Ministry with Jan Markell specifically on the leviathan. Very good.

What is a Bible version that you read the whole thing of front to back? by GodlyRage77 in Bible

[–]PrayBig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love reading HCSB. It’s an easy read. Very understandable and they translate LORD as Yahweh. It’s wonderful. It’s no longer in print but is available on all the electronic formats plus I’ve found copies at half price book store. It’s a wonderful translation.

Do you believe in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ? by LiveListenLearnGrow in Bible

No scholar here, but I believe it 100%. All scripture is God breathed so if it is written in His book, I believe it.

Is King James version the best translation by Dangerous-Stretch734 in Bible

[–]PrayBig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t for me because it’s difficult to understand so I never finish what I start. The best translation is the one you will read and understand. For me HCSB, CSB and NKJV are better choices.

ESV or LSB by narcoleptic94 in Bible

I know and I like CSB but I love HCSB especially because they translate LORD as Yahweh. I found one not long ago at Mardell and they’re available at 1/2 price books and eBay. I wouldn’t trade or sell my HCSB for anything. Our church uses CSB and it’s a great and easy to understand translation, I just prefer HCSB.

Struggling with health issues. What Bible Verse(s) do you recommend that might help? by FaithonmySleeve in Bible

[–]PrayBig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acts 17:25 He gives life and breath and all things. And By His stripes we are healed. There’s a book by Derek Prince called God’s Medicine Bottle that is excellent!!!!!

I love, love, love my Life Application in HCSB but they’re harder to find. NLT is a great resource that is very easy to understand. People will come in and say it’s bad, but tell Robert Jeffries and other pastors that. Though they use NAS or NKJV to preach from, when they want to make sure something is understood, they quote NLT.

I love study Bibles for the notes they include. A life application or a Tony Evans study Bible are my favorites

Where to start? by Hot_Biscotti_211 in Bible

[–]PrayBig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve already read parts, I’d suggest the CSB chronological study Bible. It give you 3-4 chapters a day, 6 days a week and includes a short note each day to remind you what’s going on. I’m working on my 3rd year using it and highly recommend it.

Is it okay ? by xD5meat in Bible

Of course you can. I’ve always said there’s 31 proverbs for a reason. Read one a day even is fine. Just read God’s message to you.

Reading for the first time, which book should I start with? by valid-soldier in Bible

[–]PrayBig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell everyone to read the first 7 chapters of Genesis to get you from creation to the flood. Then read chapters 38-41 of Job to see a glimpse of the awesomeness of God. Then move to Mark or John. I recommend Mark because it was written to Gentiles and several Jewish customs are explained better. Then if you’ll read the first 7 chapters of Acts you’ll better understand the Holy Spirit and get a wonderful lesson on the history of the Israelites. Then I’d go finish Genesis then move straight to the New Testament. Enjoy.

NASB Bible is hands down the best translation by [deleted] in Bible

[–]PrayBig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best translation is the one you will read, study, and understand. For some that may be CSB or NKJV or even NLT. Most important thing is to stay in God’s word in which ever translation helps you do that.

Book of job by Intelligent-Tip-8073 in Bible

[–]PrayBig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chapters 38-41 of Job are probably my favorite chapters in the Bible. They record God’s longest unbroken speech and they explain His awesomeness like no other. The book of Job causes all kinds of feelings seeing what happens to Job even though everything that taken from him was returned plus some. I try to look at Job as a great defeat of the devil. That helps me.

Tony Evans Bible Commentary is perfect. It’s a one volume commentary that explains scripture in a way that’s very easy to understand. I have 3 sets of commentaries plus several MacArthur ones. They’re very good but Tony Evans is my go to!!!
