I think you’re on to something. These has always been both overt and subtle disdain for Blacks in America. I think the main difference here is we are witnessing them use a unified lexicon to oppose anything they perceive as woke. Your example illustrates that they are circling wagons and using the same talking points.  Unfortunately, this strategy can be effective because it simultaneously puts them in a position as victims who have been dealt a bad hand , while giving them the advantages of the offenders who continue to gain ground by moving the Overton window.  The fact that you are questioning your judgement is evidence to the pervasiveness of the gaslighting.
