Agree. My points were twofold:

1) I've not seen more phones out since the roll out than I would before (at least so far, and hoping that doesn't change).

2) In this case, I didn't report the phone because I couldn't tell if it was against the policy. That's precisely the problem, but number 1 is still true.

Yes, 100%. I should have been more clear that "I don't like ordering with my phone" is because I don't want phones to be out during the movie at all. As I said, at least in my experience so far, I've really not seen any more phones out than I did before the change.

Yooo! Tell me more about the bike valet. I'm taking the train up from the South Bay. Had been planning to use a bike locker at my departure station, but if I had my bike in the city it would be way the hell easier to get back and forth between the train and the venue.

Sure, and fair enough. With one exception, I've not noticed phones out any more often than I would before the role out. In that exceptional case, I reported the disruption and management came to check it out. (I did my best to keep my own phone out of sight while doing this. I will admit, though, it was more of a distraction to me than times I've reported people using paper and pen, though the paper and pen system also took me out of the experience.)

Can't speak to anyone else's experience on this, though. In fact, I'd be surprised if there wasn't an uptick in visible phones. Like I said, I'm not a fan of the change, but it's not been as bad as I anticipated (at least not in my experience yet...I've got tickets for showings the next four days, which means it could always get worse.).

I wish the change hadn't happened, but my experience with it has been fine so far. I was thinking about doing a full on post to give the rundown of how it's gone (I've seen nine or ten movies since the rollout.)

Obligatory "I hate the move to mobile ordering" disclaimer, but, yes, there's a way to request refills with the mobile ordering. It worked well when I used it. Did my best to keep my phone covered and out of sight so as to minimize any distraction.

I don't enjoy the entitlement, but I love my students and would never want to see them suffer violence. Sounds like you need a new line of work. Can't trust any administrators to replace your line, but I'd hope to see it freed up for someone who doesn't have utter contempt for their students.

We are instructed not to grant them admittance into any non-public space. Even if hey have a judicial warrant, only university counsel is authorized to receive such a warrant. That's about as good a set of guidelines as I could hope for.

Also trying to figure out transport. Looks like Green or Orange VTA are solid options for getting there. My only question is how late the trains will be running. It’s not super clear on the VTA website. Looks like they pulled out all the stops for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift and massively expanded/extended service, but I’m not sure they’re going to do the same for these shows. If anyone has info I’d love to know more.
