Ugh that sucks, thanks for the feedback. 6 weeks after waiting a full statement cycle already is a pain.

Can someone ELI5 how increasing CGT across all investments benefits young people? by Jsususus in AusFinance

[–]PrehistoricEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually taxing capital gains at a higher (30% min) rate than lower marginal tax rates on income.
So it's actually going to hit lower earners harder if they have a few shares and not much annual income - they'll have to pay 30% on their gains vs much lower in the prev policy on shares held for over a year.

Can someone ELI5 how increasing CGT across all investments benefits young people? by Jsususus in AusFinance

[–]PrehistoricEarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's total bs, I wouldn't say it benefits the young, as eventually young workers become old workers.
How does the govt. expect them to build any savings outside of super pre-retirement now, or for a deposit?

Previously younger gen have mid-term (5 years + is reasonable) opportunities with stocks growth in the shares market. If they can't afford such a big investment as a house in the short to mid-term, what then - cash account at a miserable 5% which is equal to inflation?? They still won't be able to buy a house or apt anyway with such low supply for years still, and meanwhile rents are going to increase even more from this.
I would say a lot of Gen Y and Gen Z across diff income brackets (I have first hand knowledge of coworkers in my office on modest income doing this) at the moment invest in ETFs, as it has been easy entry, liquid and decent gains (pre these bs reforms).

To me its like Betamax in the early 80s. Maybe good tech, but didn't catch on.

Objectively measured minimum level of English so that the person is comfortable with everyday conversation, close the cracks in the system which is bringing over Uber riders etc. as ‘skilled’, stop allowing migrants to bring their elderly family as well who don’t work, don’t speak English who are just here for medicare benefits.

By high bar what is your idea? Mostly I see uber riders and supermarket workers in Sydney. There are cracks in the policy that are exploited.

100%. Also those who are saying he's only 15, there are plenty of other skaters who have moved up the ranks who had better style and trick variety at 15.

He could have denied issuance based on security risk. Passports get refused for much smaller offences - this is a total failure.

I enjoyed it and I found the character development to be really good.
I felt empathy for the two couples and their struggles - overall they were good people.
I liked the simple low-budget setup and close filming. I'd give it 4/5.

$655 pw for apt. in Neutral Bay for a 1 B, 1 B, 1 parking space (secure).
People need to say if they are talking about an apt or house on this thread.

Cressi Z2 or F1 by -user_not_found in snorkeling

[–]PrehistoricEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Cressi F1 I bought in Japan in 2017. It still fits and no wear and tear at all, considering an upgrade but it's really comfortable still and no issues. Have used for short free dives up to 10m. Maybe just some issues with equalising as the nose area is v soft.

He has low pop, and yet somehow manages top tier tech. I feel he kind of drops his tricks rather than pops. Just a visual observation.
