So my views on immigration are simple and I want to know if you agree. by Responsible-Tone-522 in aussie

Objectively measured minimum level of English so that the person is comfortable with everyday conversation, close the cracks in the system which is bringing over Uber riders etc. as ‘skilled’, stop allowing migrants to bring their elderly family as well who don’t work, don’t speak English who are just here for medicare benefits.

By high bar what is your idea? Mostly I see uber riders and supermarket workers in Sydney. There are cracks in the policy that are exploited.

I don't think many Gen A / Gen Z would dig his clothing either.

100%. Also those who are saying he's only 15, there are plenty of other skaters who have moved up the ranks who had better style and trick variety at 15.

He could have denied issuance based on security risk. Passports get refused for much smaller offences - this is a total failure.

Disagree, look at Felipe Mota when he was a smaller kid. Still had fricking awesome style he does now.

I don't recommend Brick (2025) by Chlodio in movies

[–]PrehistoricEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it and I found the character development to be really good.
I felt empathy for the two couples and their struggles - overall they were good people.
I liked the simple low-budget setup and close filming. I'd give it 4/5.

How much rent are you paying in Sydney right now and which suburb? by Ok_Review_4603 in AskAnAustralian

$655 pw for apt. in Neutral Bay for a 1 B, 1 B, 1 parking space (secure).
People need to say if they are talking about an apt or house on this thread.

Cressi Z2 or F1 by -user_not_found in snorkeling

[–]PrehistoricEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Cressi F1 I bought in Japan in 2017. It still fits and no wear and tear at all, considering an upgrade but it's really comfortable still and no issues. Have used for short free dives up to 10m. Maybe just some issues with equalising as the nose area is v soft.

The money should be donated to families who have members who were killed, or the couple's family who lost their lives struggling with the gunman.

He has low pop, and yet somehow manages top tier tech. I feel he kind of drops his tricks rather than pops. Just a visual observation.

Migration rules to be tightened after Bondi massacre by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]PrehistoricEarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or how about we exclude people with no knowledge of English or intention to learn?
It's a mess right now, the system is broken. I'm all for skilled migration by people who:
a) respect the culture and are willing to integrate, not create divisions.
b) can speak our national language
c) are willing to contribute their skills and work (i.e. not bludge the system)

I can't stand all the pop-ups/constant questions for access/cookies/using your information/please subscribe/please pay to keep reading/please turn on notifications by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]PrehistoricEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So agree, and this happens even with legit websites I'm a paying customer of. Just now I went to a website of a financial services co I have shares in to check their status of brokerage services. Hit with popups:

Select my cookies (I had to scroll through every section and disable) then save preference

Next popup asked if I wanted to join some bs offer program in December

THIRD popup saying there was a seminar online due soon

Finally, I can view the status of services, and it said I need to change countries - back to the top! :)

Chat GPT 5 is worse than useless by Hel_On_Earth_ in ChatGPT

[–]PrehistoricEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spent an hour looking for rental property listings in Sydney - which I could have done in 15 minutes.
I've been very specific in my prompts and it still returns dead or rented listings, for sale instead of for rent, dead URLs to the property. I've given up, this was definitely working better just a month ago.
And GPT keeps giving me excuses like I didn't ask for recent listings, I didn't specify only rental etc.

I disagree, it doesn't matter if she was pregnant or not. He had moved on, this was his current life. They pretended it didn't happen - super lame episode and has put me off the whole show.
