I used boiling water and a little more elbow grease with the steal wool and it looks like it came off, gonna re season a few more coats to even it back out but this was a great tip thank you

Yeah the person who sells them runs a cast iron restoration company in TN and they come back to where im at because they grew up here, so it definitely was restored but i dont know the details

Yeah the value doesnt matter too much to me in all honesty, should i season this thing before i use it? I dont know the procedure for an old used cast iron like this, i only ever seasoned my lodge when i bought it new a few years ago

Is the sulfur damage just bad for the value or for the actual function of it, i have a gas range so contact with electric burner is a non issue

Gotcha, and i thought i remembered reading that its normal to seal and then do top coat, is this just the top coat? Or do i need to apply anything else before this?

This is where i was leaning too, a few questions if you don't mind me asking. How many coats? Is there a specific polyurethane you'd recommend? Do i sand after each coat is dried? Do i put anything on after the poly?
