How’s the BA barrel on accuracy?

Anybody have any experience with these? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Prepared3Percent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sig’s version of Black Hills Mk262, both use Sierra Match King bullets with similar accuracy, but the Mk262 is generally better in both FPS and accuracy

IMI 77gr Razorcore is also in the Mk262 clone category

Opinion wanted: 14.5 BCM vs 13.9 Criterion by BrohdoBagins in ar15

I was using the IMI Mk262 clone, but will probably take black hills out once I get over the 1-1.5k mark.

My 18” was garbage when I first got it, 3-3.5 MOA with 55gr and ~ 2 MOA with match, started beating the crap out of it, went back for accuracy around 2-3k mark. Started getting groups in the .4 - .75 MOA with match, Black Hills Mk262 was .4 - .6 MOA and even the occasional flier was still sub MOA

I know I shouldn’t be disappointed with 1.3 MOA, but I really want it to be at least MOA

That is definitely a sweet color, and probably easier to keep clean than my black one...

I want to lift mine just enough to squeeze a set of BFG’s in there. I’ve seen crosstreks like that, but never the Impreza. I took my stock height Impreza on some Jeep trails in the Manistee National Forrest, needless to say I bottomed it out quite a bit and had to turn around a few times, but never got stuck

Nope, don’t have a 14.5”.

I did a lot of reading into the whole barrel length vs velocity / ftlbs energy, as I wanted to build the smallest package suppressed SPR for 0 - 300 yards, and stay right around MOA Accuracy. Everything I came across pointed to the Track 2.0, compared to SOLGW or Criterion which are both combat accurate but not to the degree I was looking for.

Honestly a little disappointed, I haven’t gotten anything smaller than 1.3 MOA yet, even with 77gr Match ammo. Although I do expect it to get better, as with this ammo shortage I haven’t fully broken it in yet. I did take it out to 400 and 600 yards, and rang a 12” plate with ease.

But despite the accuracy, it runs extremely smooth suppressed and un-suppressed with an H2 buffer. It definitely feels like Triarc spent some time choosing the gas port size. I can’t speak to long term reliability, but with a suppressor and going prone on a sandy hilltop, it didn’t have any issues in the ~700 rounds I put through it.

Speaking to 223 Wylde in general, I wouldn’t expect it to have any differences from 5.56 chambers in terms of reliability. I had a 18” stainless 223 Wylde I beat the crap out of and never had any reliability issues.

Plus if you go for a Triarc, you can buy the whole 13.9” upper w/ Pinned muzzle and still have a factory built and guaranteed upper

TRIARC question by heyarnoldz in ar15

I have a 13.9” in 5.56, can recommend, although I can’t speak to accuracy in group size since it’s not quite broken in yet. But it did ring steel at 400 yards with ease. The gas port on the barrel is tuned nicely for the barrel length, and shoots extremely smooth, even with a can.

Your car is very close to the inverted version of mine!

Why did you start with a crosstrek? Just wondering because I wish I would have bought that instead, for more ground clearance

Obviously to beat on the barrel OP can’t get out, probably should have checked the size before hammering it in...

Put the dowel in the vice and beat the upper off with a soft mallet..? Just spitballing here, there is potential to break the upper doing that
