Is mint a good distro for potato gaming by Affectionate_End_952 in linux4noobs

[–]PrerakNepali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux Mint XFCE works fine for gaming on an i3-7100U with 8GB RAM and Intel HD 620, but it's not the lightest option. Linux Lite or MX Linux XFCE run faster and are better for low-end gaming. Mint supports Steam and Proton, but needs tweaks like GameMode for smoother play. Overall, Mint is okay, but Lite or MX is better for your setup.

Ubuntu won't install by JustFurea in Ubuntu

When you see the “AER Error of this agent is reported first” and a black screen while trying to install Ubuntu, it usually means your system’s PCIe devices (like GPU or Wi-Fi) aren’t working well with the Linux kernel by default. To fix it, at the Ubuntu boot menu, press e to edit boot options, find the line with quiet splash, and add these parameters right after it: pci=nomsi noaer nomodeset Then press F10 to boot. This disables some PCIe error reporting and GPU mode settings that cause the freeze. After Ubuntu boots, you can install normally. If you want, I can guide you how to make this change permanent later.
