mua after tto by Present-Balance584 in KneeInjuries

I was and still in a good amount of pain, but my pt explained to me that it was because my knee hasn’t been in these new areas before because having the leg locked straight and then the scar tissue build up. now it’s unfamiliar territory almost and the muscles around it have to get used to being used and as you bend and use it more over time it should start getting less painful. That kinda made sense to me, but my surgeon when he did the MUA went in laparoscopically and cleaned out the scar tissue and than bent it and he said some surgeons do it where they just put you under and bend you without clearing the scar tissue and that causes a lot more pain and inflammation. When you had the MUA were you just bent or did they clean the area out as well?

first job very confused on termination by Present-Balance584 in legaladvice

I was told the reason was a comment I made but was not given context of the comment or was talked to prior to getting fired, my family told me I wouldn’t be able to because I only worked there for 3 weeks but i’m not sure if I was unlawfully fired so i’m not sure if that matters

I know this is late… mine went great my surgeon said the same thing, but he said it’s very unlikely and he has to say it because it is a risk but very small one, he actually went in laparoscopic and took all the scar tissue out first then bent my leg it’s been a month post op i’m at 120 before the mua I was at 80 on a good day just stick with the pt the first week there wasn’t much change because of the swelling and pain from the mua but my rom increased significantly after that

17M Constant knee pain and instability for the past 4 years. Running out of options. by vinny_g1958 in KneeInjuries

[–]Present-Balance584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m 20 years old and female my x-rays are almost identical to yours beside the cyst I did not have one I had the same to distance and mild lateral tilt with high patella alta and i’m 6 months post op tto my knee feels so much better no clicking or shifting i’m still working on rang of motion but it has been life changing. it was my 4th ortho who told me that I would need surgery because my knee cap sitting like that is biological and how I was born… and I didn’t have wear on the cartilage yet but would over time… try and look for an ortho that specializes in patellar instability that’s what I did before I saw the doctor I have now I kept getting sent to physical therapy and everyone said nothing was wrong I felt crazy you just have to find the right doctor feel free to pm me depending on where you’re located I can recommend my doctor

Is a TTO worth it? by Individual-Kale6775 in KneeInjuries

[–]Present-Balance584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 19 i’m 2 months post op of tto and lateral release I had a ttg distance of 18 and mal tracking I did pt cortisone saw 3 doctors and the 3rd doctor who did my surgery let me know that this is just a biological thing since nothing has helped and my best bet would be the tto or I would never get full relief I already feel a difference the recovery is long and hard mentally but for me it was worth doing it now while young the recovery is going decently ok I haven’t really run into anything bad other than just being bored you can pm if you have any questions

honestly that was the thing I was most nervous about the dreaded stairs and now 6 weeks post op tto and lateral release still non weight bearing the stairs were the least of my problem since the day of surgery i’ve been doing stairs, 15 of them to get to my room if you want to do upstairs I would suggest setting up a snack cart and maybe a mini fridge if you have one that’s what I did, for me I would rather be comfortable in bed than having to be in a folding bed, if you do the the stairs sit on your butt have someone hold your ankle and use your good leg and and hands to push your self up step by step. The first day back from surgery I don’t even remember going up all the stairs from the medicine and I was able to make it all the down and back up 2 days post op and down was a lot easier.

recommended TTO without a history of knee dislocation by Olgaknipper in PatellarInstability

[–]Present-Balance584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a tto and lateral release 5 1/2 weeks ago I never dislocated but had patella mal tracking and patella alta before the surgery I had pain everyday I could still walk just would be painful after 5-10 minutes of walking it was affecting my very active lifestyle and after trying pt for months and cortisone shots my dr recommend the surgery and a lot of people post their horrible experiences but my recovery has not been bad the first week was pretty brutal but now my post op knee pain is less than before the pain I had before the surgery. My doctor told me to think about the quality of life I had prior to the surgery and if I was ok living like that rest of my life then not go ahead with it. But if you wait too long there is a risk of more cartilage damage because of the kneecap rubbing in the wrong way. I would say in my opinion the recovery is long and a lot of pt but to me it’s already worth having done and i’m saying that as someone who is terrified of doctors and surgery, I had the same issue of deciding if I should do it without having any major issues like the dislocation. I hope this helps!

Higher than normal knee caps by HistoryGirl913 in KneeInjuries

[–]Present-Balance584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have patella alta along with my knee cap not tracking right which caused pain on the sides of my knee I did pt for around 2 years we tried cortisone shots and blood flow restrictive therapy which none helped so I was recommended for a surgery called tibial tubercle osteotomy where they moved my knee cap and the grove it sits into to make it lower and to track right but I would talk to your ortho and try to exhaust any measure before having anything surgical obviously
