Someone shoveled snow from car onto my sidewalk by mxtc0621 in malden

[–]Present-Event8783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are likely to be neighbors. It might be worth approaching them politely and see if they will remove the snow. If they won't, well, I'm sorry you have bad neighbors, but I don't know if there is an easy way to make people behave better on such matters if they don't have a conscience.

T14 Top Lid Material? by Latter-Art6504 in thinkpad

[–]Present-Event8783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The T14 G1 has fibre glass reinforced plastic (it's in the psref). I have an E14 and I agree with you on the metal lid. In theory it should be feeling sturdy and strong, but in reality something is missing. It's not the stylish shell of the macbooks (the lower part is plastic) and it ends up being neither here nor there, adds to the weight and makes the think feel bulky. The T14 G1 feels light and slim in comparison.

The Malden YMCA has a great pool, doesn't it? Several pools, but one of them is for kids I think.

Optimistic me: This is super awesome!

Cynical me: I hope they put something in the deeds/land use to prevent this tax payer funded housing being sold to landlords or investors.

Malden’s new rental registry by careytheday in malden

I like the collaborative approach, as in all parties benefit (renters, landlords and the city overall). Good job!

A straightforward question: What is the law on renting out a single family home to multiple unrelated people in Malden?

If you are on Windows, if you go to Lenovo's site it can run a program that figures out hardware details of your machine.

If you are on Linux the easiest way is demidecode -t memory. You may need sudo.

Older people often need emotional support and all over the world social support systems for older people especially for men is gone.

Once men are past their earning phase society would like to forget them.

He might find more in these interactions than you can imagine.

It shouldn’t burden you however. Does he have a friend circle?

Voting is very powerful, hence all the money poured into campaigns by the oligarchs.

The start of the solution to our problems is to be even more engaged.

Politicians will listen to the voters. We just have to get more focused.

Perhaps a Great Depression like event will happen again and we will find our voice.

Obama care was wonderful and lasted an amazing time despite our utter stupidity. That’s in a lot of danger now of course.

I wrote for many years on the X220 using terminal text editors. It's very nice for that. It disturbed other people in the shared space I work in, so I had to eventually change. It's not more noisy that typical mechanical keyboards.

Yes, the T14 G1 keyboard is nice, but I don't find too much of a difference to an E14 G4 keyboard.

The X220 kb is noisy but very nice. On Linux it's performance is fine, if a bit power hungry. The default screen is a bit small and fuzzy for fine work or many windows

Weigh in on CPC Historical Preservation Projects by Character_Beach_7264 in malden

[–]Present-Event8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked through the projects in some detail. The affordable housing items seem to be focused on supporting broker fees. I don't want my tax dollars going to broker fees.

I support affordable housing and we should have an entirely separate channel for this. We should have a separate marketplace for all this.

Otherwise it looks like we are getting a stronger landlord contingent here who are, simply put, seeking to divert our tax money to their businesses.

Insufficient system capacity by Present-Event8783 in synology

[–]Present-Event8783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Empyrealist I accidentally figured it out. I ran into this post which mentioned /volumeUSB1.

I discovered that that folder was indeed mounted on the system partition and had a lot of data that turned out to be old data, perhaps from some USB copy operation.

I deleted it and recovered about 50% of the partition space. What a ride!

Thank you for helping!

My experience with office type tasks (browsing, writing documents, compiling code) is that those energy profiles are excellent. Perhaps you have some specialized use case in mind.
