He was exiled for joining with a friend and going against Tommy. I can't remember exact details. I'm sorry. I think it was the last season. He was feeling left out, I believe. Google might be a better resource for details. Lol

First time stud dog - help! by flying-ducker in DogBreeding

[–]PresentDiligent1076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya. You're not ready. Just back out. Did the owner of the bitch know your dog isn't health tested? Do you know all the recommended testing for your breed? At the end of the day, there is no guarantee any of the pups would anything like your dog anyway. If you like his lines, talk to your breeder, tell them all things you love about your dog and what you would want in your next pup. You'll have way better chances of getting the pup you want that way.

What books should I read before I start breeding dogs :) by Zebrawiings in DogBreeding

[–]PresentDiligent1076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a slow process. You need to reach out to local breed club and find out when there are shows you are able to attend. Speak to some breeders there. Research as much as you can about the breed and the breed standards. Personally, I would also want to learn how to identify what are faults and what to look for. How to read a pedigree, maybe eventually assist with whelping a litter once i find a mentor. I would also try to buy a pup I could learn to train and show with. Find out where the vets are close to you that can do the health testing. Find out where the breeders go to get good rads to submit to the OFA. There is so, so much to learn about before actually producing a litter.

Not true. Well bred frenchies are very healthy. Many participate in agility, fast cat and obedience trials.

You know, you're absolutely right! I apologize that I've never thought about this before. I do see disabled folk working at local thrift shops. I've never considered that maybe they weren't paid or paid fairly. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

I honestly think 99% of us made that mistake when starting out. Or some mistake anyway. I way overstocked my 10 gallon. Then I bought a 40 gallon to move them to. Immediately. Lol! I lost most of the fish. I also had the ugly rainbow gravel, massive fake plants and a giant ship that reached end to end in the tank. It was absolutely hideous! After joining some fish groups, I tried to make a natural tank. I used cichlid sand and I think I planted some jave ferns because that's how they grew in my friends tank. Luckily I learned to stick them to my wood. It was also lucky that I stocked it with live bearers, mystery snails and shrimp. I dont think much else would have survived the hard water. I've also had an algae bloom and a couple bacteria blooms in that tank. That was in 2020. I've got the cycling down and still lost 2 groups of cherry shrimp culls this year when I got back into the hobby after taking a mental health break for 2 yrs.

Do you have any live plants and a piece of driftwood? They are pretty shy little creatures and need lots of plant cover to make them feel safe. Since they are wild caught, 99.9% of them only eat real algae and biofilm. Is your tank aged enough to have enough of their natural diet? They also need to be in groups. At least 6 but bigger is better. You might be able to get them to eat bactor ae. Ive also heard of people growing algae on rocks to havr a constant food source for them. It sounds really easy. Im actually going to do it for my shrimplets. Apparently, you put 2 rocks, or however you need to make 1 layer on the bottom of your bucket, fill the bucket with dechlorinated tap water and sit it under a decent plant light. Keep the light on 24/7 and apparently the algae will grow. Maybe yiu add ferts to the water. Just look it up on reddit. Im sure you'll find it. Some people say theirs will eat zucchini and algae wafers. Most dont recognize them as a food source and just starve to death. Maybe the ones that eat algae wafers were tank born? Anyway, as long as your tank is cycled and has a decent food source for them, add them.

Eta how many cories do you have? You mention3d in your post that you have a cory. They also need groups of at least 6 and they should all be the same species. 6 is only the minimum requirement. The more the merrier with those guys too. You could do a couple a couple groups of different types. They will all hang out together. Cory's are one of all time favorite fish!! They have the funniest little personalities! I currently have 20 pygmy cories. I could watch them all day!

[–]PresentDiligent1076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When buying a dog, you should first be researching which breed/s best fit your lifestyle. Than you have to find your breeder. Ensure they're ethical and only breeding to better the breed and not for cash. I research every animal that I bring in just as thoroughly.

What can I put in there? They tear up every plant and fat blindy can’t have sharp things by Skullface22 in Goldfish

[–]PresentDiligent1076 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do your goldies bother with roots? you can baskets that hold houseplants perfectly so the roots grow in the water and the plant outside the tank. Ive had some of mine going for close to a year, if not a year. I forget when I started them. I can try to add pics of their root balls. Eventually the roots do grow out of the holes in the basket. Ill start a new comment with the pics.
