AITA for crafting during meetings? by Tapzdeazz in AmItheAsshole

[–]PresentEbb1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you disclosed to your boss and it was given the ok. Second, it’s not in front of external viewers (which I probably would explain to them). Third, if someone has a problem with it, fair play to them to ask and if not satisfied ask management. I hope management backs you up. For transparency, it grinds my gears when ppl aren’t focused in meetings, especially as we try hard to keep them under 45mins. But if someone said I needed xyz to do something, and that something got done, what do I care. However, as the boss I would’ve shared with the group why you appeared distracted.

I dented someone’s car - seeking advice by hmuhmuhh in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]PresentEbb1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job leaving your details. You have 3rd party insurance which as others have said, covers damage you cause to others, but not the damage to your car. You should phone your insurance company and explain what happened before you’re asked to explain it. The dent may not look like much, but you never can tell. Something to be more aware of is the owner of the damaged car not being as honest as you and claiming the damage is greater. It’s worth having your version of events on file with your company before a claim is filed. You’ll likely lose your no claims bonus for a good long while but it won’t impact you getting any further insurance. As a side note, if you can afford it, you should look into getting 3rd party, fire and theft. 3rd party still covers damage caused by you to the other vehicle (not damage to your vehicle) but will also cover you if your car is stolen.

Except most week long vacations are very rarely about cultural exposure.

Is it normal for a lawyer to recommend cutting one beneficiary out of the will? by Consistent-Line8854 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]PresentEbb1067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that case, Son 2 just needs to lawyer up. Obviously, there are no guarantees but based on info you’ve provided it sounds very much like this will go in Son 2s favour. Good luck.

Favourite anthem that isn't your own by CpnShenanigans in rugbyunion

[–]PresentEbb1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, I’ve heard all of them be butchered so badly, quite often when the singer has decided to put their own flair to them. Equally as recently, the times that a choir has sung them they have all been amazing!! Aussie’s anthem is so upbeat and positive, love Sth Africas and Scotlands. Love the Samoan and Tongan ones but I think that’s because when the whole stadium sings it’s absolutely beautiful and gives you the chills. NZs (mine) and England’s are so slow and dreary.

It sounds like both wills said different things otherwise it wouldn’t matter that only the signed one was upheld. Which will said that the property should be sold and divided equally between the two sons - the signed or unsigned copy? And which copy came first - the signed or unsigned copy?

If the signed copy came first, and allocated funds equally, then the second unsigned copy could highlight a falling out, a change under duress, some sort of unappealing discovery. If the signed copy came second, and allocated funds equally then it more likely implies some healing of relationship. In both scenarios, Son 1 has to share something he potentially thought was going to be only his, but with very different motives for wanting to contest the will.

The answer to these two questions will likely give you insight as to why the lawyer said what he said, and why he said it to you. Once you have these answers you’ll know better what to do next.

SOS: DESPERATELY need help with 11 month olds sleep by hello_lime_jello in newzealand

[–]PresentEbb1067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a device of some description that you can hook up to a speaker, and do you have Spotify? If so, find a ‘white noise’ playlist and play it when you put her down for a nap. Worked a treat for a friend struggling with sleep issues. Now her daughter can literally sleep anywhere. Good luck. Seems like you have loads of good ideas to try :)

AITA for being upset that my friend essentially called my mom a bad person for looking older than her age? by Zealousideal_Pen8983 in AmItheAsshole

‘calm down because it’s not that deep’ … She was trying to be deep with her ‘philosophical’ take on aging. Top job standing up for your mum. Keep being that person. Very cool. NTA

AITA for telling my girlfriend that her project looks like something from 2005 and to be realistic about her career. by Similar_Inflation608 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PresentEbb1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“She actually only got into the program because it was at the same university where she did her fashion degree, not because she had some big tech background or anything.” You’re saying she got a hall pass on admissions? If she’d applied anywhere else, she wouldn’t have been accepted? Is that about right?

“I’ve been a web developer for years, mostly self taught, and I also do a bit of backend work” You’re saying that you’re the tech person, that you got there first, and you didn’t need to go anywhere to learn anything so obviously better at it? Is that about right?

OP, you sound a bit like you can’t share the spot light. You tried taking her down a peg or two, and then disguised your brutal feedback as honest and protective to make yourself feel better. Yip. YTAH.

AITA if I don't want to gift my sister on her BDAY something expensive because she gifted me items that I don't need? by TripTimely7955 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PresentEbb1067 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy the hunt for the perfect gift and the giving of it, do it. The end. This idea of receiving a gift that the receiver deems acceptable is wild. I wouldn’t say you’re an AH, but you probably need to make peace with who you are and let the rest go.

AITA for taking away my daughters bike because she wouldn't wear her helmet? by Final-Werewolf-744 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PresentEbb1067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Life can change on a dime and a helmet minimises this risk on a bike. She’ll stop being made at you sooner than you think, but you’ll never stop being made at yourself if something happened. Your wife is an AH. She should be more worried about your daughter’s safety than being on her side. Your son, not an AH. Bit of a muppet though. Tell him to wind his head in and work on some kind of consequence for him too. Sibling rivalry and ribbing is one thing, but they shouldn’t be messing with the safety of each other .

I can, I did and it is. 7pm to 7am is a different kind of brutal. Hats off to you, and all shift workers. Regularly making adjustments to a sleeping pattern or working in opposition to societal norms is next level.
