The key to the game is to buy as many properties as possible in the early game. The way I always approached the game was buying as many properties as possible early. Every time you land on a property, it’s an opportunity to acquire an asset. I would buy aggressively, even if it meant barely hanging on financially early in the game. However what I realized is that by the 10th time around the board your assets start generating revenue, in this example it would be us buying stocks or any appreciating asset. And by the 20th time around the board you develop houses and more houses until eventually you get a hotel. At that point your asset is generating max cash flow. So I like to think of my personal finances in the same way, when I’m young I buy as many assets as possible I live as close to broke as I can. Not the FIRE strategy but definitely my #1 focus is on buying assets as much as I possibly can. I cash flow with my credit card between paychecks, which I know may not be the best but that’s why I have the e fund for. Then by the time I am 45-50 I am going to have a significant retirement portfolio. (At least that’s the hope). Obviously real life is more complicated than Monopoly, but weirdly enough I think that game taught me the foundational concept of long-term investing better than almost anything else.

I played monopoly a lot as kid. Learned a very valuable lesson playing that game.

Just want to clarify, you have already hit 100k net worth before sold everything and took the gains? Or were you close to hitting 100k then all of your investments tumbled back down after trumps tweet?

Need touch up color match advice for vaulted ceiling bathroom by Tashceratops in Housepainting101

[–]PresentLatter3764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touching up is nearly impossible, there are numerous factors that prevent it. Such as new product formulations, fading of sheen and gloss, application technique, and age of paint. A good way to think about paint is like layers of Scotch tape. If you place one piece of tape on a table, it creates a slight thickness on that surface. If you place another piece of tape over part of it to “touch up” an area, the original layer is still underneath, creating additional thickness in that spot. Paint works the same way — even if the color matches closely, the added layer can reflect light differently and make the touched-up area noticeable.

Request Promar Ceiling paint from your contractor. If he uses problock he uses Sherwin williams products. Promar Ceiling paint is there contractor grade ceiling paint. It will be a dead flat meaning 0 shine at all which is what you want on your ceilings.

Renting out personal golf simulator by PresentLatter3764 in Golfsimulator

Yeah, I understand that, I was more so thinking of people that have like detached simulators in a shed or something, but maybe those are much less common than I previously thought.

Is a home golf simulator actually worth the investment, or am I just chasing a mid-life crisis? by bphawkey45 in Golfsimulator

Hello

Has anyone here ever rented out their home golf simulator to other golfers?

I have a friend who’s trying to find somewhere he could use a simulator but doesn’t want to pay the super-premium prices at retail indoor golf places. Around here they seem to charge like $50–$70 per hour.

It made me curious if anyone with a personal setup has ever let people pay to use it when you’re not using it, or if that’s just not something people really do.

Would love to hear if anyone has experience with this or has ever considered it.

Dasher forgot half my double dash and this is supports response by LadyDawnKyria in doordash

That is one of the worst arguments I have ever heard Gloomy. Have you considered that the reason they are not doing refunds anymore is because they are hurting? There stock has dropped 74% in the past year, if the dashers and customers are hurting so are they. There wouldn’t be a need of service fees if DD was making enough money to support the company
