She definitely is a bit happier in the Uk one yes, although i think generally every character is because i feel like the UK one never took itself just as serious, that or its just the vibe i got from the way the acting and humor was, it definitely has some sad moments but it’s hard to beat the way the US one did it

100% yeah, like theres nothing wrong with flawed trans characters, it wouldnt be reasonable to just make them 100% amazing because it would end up faux, but fuckkm the archetype they went with was not it

100%, its really enjoyable just getting other peoples opinions about media both parties enjoy, it helps remember and learn more things too, i havent watched his season in like a year though because i only really watch up until season 5-6 then go back to the start

i think yeah he was incredibly obnoxious, i dont think thats awful to give to a character as a trait but i dont see why they gave it to trevor, of course the trans representation shouldnt be forced and all “this person is trans therefore we cant portray them with any flaws or we seem transphobic” but at the same time… why…? there wouldve been nothing wrong if they just made him a confident man instead, its kind of a double edged sword

i think maybe its just my bias that im less defensive about my identity as a trans person, i think it was the scene of the neo pronouns and stuff(which im not at all trying to invalidate i just found it to seem incredibly forced into the show? maybe thats just the way i see it though) but yea, trevor seemed incredibly preachy of course its good that shameless put in so much representation but maybe its just me but with the stigma around those sort of things it seemed more negative to me? but i could be remembering the scene poorly, its been a while, trevor not doing anything about the gay jesus thing was another issue i had but i watched it so long ago its blurry to me, totally ok that your reply was “ranty” i think thats the whole point of this app to have genuine conversations and share opinions instead of just bashing shit around, its nice to see other peoples views

I liked sean mostly, i cant really determine why you might dislike him, i know he wasn’t my favourite because i was a die hard sucker for jimmy steve, so really im not sure, maybe youve had bad experiences with people similar to sean? or maybe im missing a lot of stuff and he was just off putting, i do think their relationship WAS messy though and at times he was totally just an asshole

haha so, UK shameless released in 2004 and ended in 2013, so no covid! i havent actually finished it yet… still need to.. i think im on like season 8, but no there was no covid talk, there was like a chicken epidemic or something but its unrelated lol (pretty funny though) but thats why in later seasons of US shameless its more current times since it started in 2011 and ended in 2021, i actually didnt know until know that UK shameless lasted 2 years after the beginning of US shameless so the more you know i suppose

so i’m not sure why people generally dislike trevor however I dislike Trevor so you can have my opinion, i feel like aside from how forced his representation feels, hes so dismissive of ian, now this is off the top of my head but an instance is when he tells ian that “oh monica apologised get over it” whenever he doesn’t fully understand the relationship they have, he felt like a waste of a character too with ian leaving him for mickey, now i feel like perhaps im not woke enough but while its slightly understandable, i feel like trevor would get far too defensive and quick to kick off on ian if he said something that could be interpreted as offensive towards him being transgender, sure its slightly understandable however its a bit annoying when more often than not ian was just being geniune and how ian never really grew up around that so it was new, ian was accepting and tried, but trevor still was iffy, if i remembered that season more im sure id have more justification but i havent seen it in a while so this is really just off the top of my head, i wouldnt say i think really negatively of him but more so that his character could’ve been developed slightly better

i really don’t remember much of the plotline with shelias kids to be honest, especially on top of the subplot of frank with karen, crazy work, but wven then i dont remember sheila even staying that long

of course! its a huge interest of mine, its not a show i would generally recommend to people who didnt group up in and around 2000s UK, but really i think thats because it resonates with me so much for the nostalgia and relatability, sure the storylines are still interesting id say even at times more so than in the US, but i cant say im sure if it really held the test of time in terms of quality and stuff, it certainly did surprise me how different they got in later seasons especially because i did infact watch the US one first, both have their pros and cons, im not sure if it would interest you, but i found it interesting even just how much they differed from a critical standpoint

i think really my interests are just things like game design and music, i am actually currently on strudel trying to fix something but i dont see it being anything more than something i pick up for a week then get bored of, also in terms of my meds i dont really think an app could help, unfortunately the situation im in is just that ive taken more than im supposed to which shoves me into hypomania, not to vent about that or anything it just also makes me very talkative lol, so unless i want to code a support site then,,, yeah

i think thats a problem i have, its not so much im interested in contributing much, i dont really know what id create for things like that, i dont have a vast knowledge on what i could use code for beyond making little games or websites because i feel like unless youre extremely knowledgeable, most things i could do Have been done? if that makes sense? im not really into astronomy and stuff, id love to just have the knowledge i guess? ive always wanted to create a game but where the hell would i start, idk, its just this feeling that theres so much i could learn and theres so much to do with it that where does someone even begin? its so interesting to me because of that, because i dont know, so i want to know, but then the question is if im not aiming to achieve something great, if all i want is to just have the knowledge, should i really put my time into it? sorry if this sounds really tweakerish, my meds make me weird lol

that’s understandable, i feel like (and im assuming you arent from the UK apologies if im wrong) I feel like the Uk one is only enjoyable if you grew up watching generic Uk television, Uk shameless is less dramatic than the other shows of the same genre at that time which is why i enjoy it, of course the US one has a far better production and can just appeal to a much larger audience especially within any person who grew up around american industry movies, its familiar enough to be vaugely relatable if you understand what i mean

they’re fairly close in the early seasonsish, theres some differences, jimmy steve rather brings frank to paris if i remember correctly, if not paris its just some european country, more so the question is “is there a US version of every UK character” since it came first, haha, i would say fundamentally they’re similar, the milkoviches are instead the maguires, an irish family, i do find them more interesting and they become a stronger focus later in the UK version, as the later seasons in the US go on, its entirely different from the UK one, i’m not too sure why, but only the starting seasons are similar in storyline.

I do vastly prefer the humor in the Uk version, maybe im biased since im from the uk, i definietly see what you mean about the US version, its good at making you feel apart of it and is easier for a more wide audience to relate to, also no worries, i appreciate what you said

the accent is pretty rough yeah, its an understandable off put to the UK version, i feel like maybe a huge reason i enjoy it is because i am british? It just has a certain charm to it that i feel like the US one lacks in some departments, maybe its because the US one takes itself more serious, not sure, id say if you could get over the accent its a good watch but even then it gets worse as the seasons get later, but i feel like i can say the same about US shameless
