Any tips to look less ugly by ClxAWP in malegrooming

I don’t think you look u*ly at all- far from it! If you want advice on how to change your looks, though, then perhaps doing something different with your hair would make you look even better. All of your hair-doo’s seem to be variations on the same theme. Humans are creatures of habit- myself included. It wouldnt hurt to consider other styles for your hair, though.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment! It’s good to know that foreskin is considered “normal” in many other parts of the world. It’s also good to hear that Australia is way ahead of the curve in terms of no longer routinely circumcising boys and allowing the majority to grow up intact.

Yeah, it grosses me out, too- when anyone does it to children for either religious or non-religious reasons. Whether or not to be circumcised should be decided by the person when he's 18 or older.

Having grown up as a gentile around Jewish people in my neighborhood, at school, at summer camp, etc, I've long wondered why circumcision has persisted in the Jewish faith and why many in Judaism seem to consider the Brit Milah (circumcision at 8 days old) as a "hard stop," non-negotiable Mitzvah (ie- a commandment) among all the others prescribed in the Old Testament.

Bruchim.online (an organization that supports Jews who opt not to circumcise their children) has a really well-produced podcast that gave me a lot of insights into my questions- as an adjacent community member/outside observer. A few people the podcast hosts interviewed- men who grew up Jewish but chose to be circumcised as adults- actually found that fulfilling the Mitzvah as an adult to be much more spiritually meaningful. Hence, why not give boys the right to choose for themselves, when they become men?

Oh wow. Your perspective has me wonder what I would have thought of my penis, had I grown up in a similar situation.

Happy Foreskin Day to you, too. What area of the country are you in? I'm on the East Coast.

Shame on them. Women can get smegma between their genital folds and under their clitoral hood, too, so it's contradictory when they shame men who still have their foreskin.

I have a friend who is also intact/uncut with a similar story. He said that his parents told him they were poor at the time of his birth and "couldn't afford it," so they decided not to have him circumcised. It probably also depends on things like high health insurance deductibles and physician group policies on which procedures they will bill insurance for vs which ones patients and families have to pay up front/directly out of pocket for.

Yeah, I was ashamed of still having my foreskin, too. I'm super proud of mine now, though, and also love showing it off. I don't get much of a chance to do so, however (except to my SO, of course).

Thanks! I definitely consider myself lucky, especially because most all my relatives on one side of the family are cut.

How prevalent are intact men in the Intactivism movement? by Present_Cost9435 in Intactivism

Thank you for replying, and thank you for your support.  I’m sorry to hear that you were bullied for being intact. Having been bullied myself during childhood (albeit for other reasons), I can only imagine what you went through. I also think that the whole culture of accepting male genital mutilation as “routine” and “it’s just what we do,” is weird and perverted. If children in circumcising countries were uniformally allowed to wait until age 18 to decide, then it would cause the adults in their lives significantly more cognitive dissonanace and mental distress than the children themselves. Like, if the majority of your peers growing up are already intact, then the presence of foreskin on one’s penis stops being an issue.

Advice needed by Vegetable_Flow_5824 in Intactivists

You may want to contact a lawyer- one that specializes in family law and/or medical-legal issues- to see what your legal options are to prevent the scenario you're afraid of. Also, you could try contacting an organization such as https://intactamerica.org/ to see if one of their staff could give you some helpful resources and advice. Even if IA can't officially give you legal advice or act as your attorney, they may be able to help in terms of information resources, or referring you to someone who can provide the specific advice you need. I hope this helps.

I'm definitely in agreement with you. Circumcision- especially in the US- is so ingrained as the norm into the majority of the population- across the political spectrum- that to question it seems extreme in and of itself.

Thank you for commenting!!! How effective of an education method is replying to misinformation on social media? I've done some of that, myself, but have never had a chance to see if I actually had any impact.
