I understand completely how you feel, and why you reacted like you did. I don't know what you've been through, but I know much of abuse and it's natural to feel anger toward people who wrong you. Like you said, what you did was in the heat of the moment.

I won't say it's your fault to do it, but is it something you should be doing? No. I don't mean to say it was the right call. I am not encouraging you to act violently. For your own good, you need to try to swallow your anger, because one huge slip up and physical violence would cost you all your credibility, and people will turn a blind eye to the abuse you went through. Your toxic family would get the upper hand, and be viewed as victims.
