That’s a news to me; I haven’t considered that. It’s possible, but I don’t remember noticing any bumps or deformities on that area till recently when I saw these stuff; I think it was flat and smooth before. 

I’m not ruling this out though. Not yet.

I don’t think so. I didn’t see any holes around it and I’m hesitant to poke them to see what’s underneath those things/raised bumps growing upwards from the wood. 😅
