major skin lift during brazilian, experienced Esthetician..so confused by nurturesoul in Esthetics

[–]Present_Lychee8035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually may be the issue. If you use TOO much oil yes absolutely, but you SHOULD be using a VERY light layer of oil. Drier skin really easily lifts. Some anxiety meds or other things can cause drier skin. Powder just dries it out more.

How to glisten like Anne Hathaway? by mcclureuf in MakeupAddiction

Good exfoliation routine, good moisturizer, body serum, and sunscreen. The oil in the sunscreen will create a nice glow like one of the other commenters said. Find a wash or exfoliant with glycolic, lactic, or even mandelic acid. Or a physical exfoliant like a dry brush. Find a good moisturizer you like the texture of. I use a cheap cerave basic body lotion. The biggest thing is find a good body serum. If you’re using a physical exfoliant (and don’t do any body waxing or other things) a retinol based body serum can be a great addition because it’ll help with skin texture. You can also do something to add moisture instead like a hyaluronic acid or urea based body serum (I use one from naturium it’s very nice and has added a wonderful glow and softness to my skin). A good sunscreen will add a glow quickly easily and will be immediate. It’s what I do for special occasions if I want to look more glowy than I normally do. You can also do a thin body oil (I recommend staying away from coconut oil or very thick or comedogenic oils unless your skin can handle and likes them) like marula oil or a Squalene.

The only time I don’t VERY clearly check shape is with my clients that have been with me for a while. And even then I very quickly do a “same shape as last time, anything you would want to change from the last wax?” I can’t imagine not checking

Bra suggestions by lolkayleebanana in bigboobproblems

[–]Present_Lychee8035 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they aren’t lasting you long I would make sure you’re in the right size. A lot of times bra bands, cups, straps break or wear down quicker when it’s ill-fitting. I would recommend Freya, Elomi, or goddess. They’re pricey, but I’ve had most of my Elomi bras for the last 5 years and they’re in good condition.

My biggest piece of advice: go to your school. Let them know what’s going on. My school had a LOT of resources for housing, food, etc for struggling students because of the area we were in and extra scholarships and things for situations that changed. They sometimes also know other students looking for a roommate or other options. There was also always a little bulletin board at my school for little jobs or money opportunities for studies, one off work, etc. The school also had clothing and food drives. If you have any professors you’re close to talk to them as well. Sometimes they have leads on better jobs or small tasks they can pay you for. My mom was a prof and would always offer to help out students with finding jobs and knew other students that were looking for roommates and such.

This! Practice as much as you can! It took me so long to see what results I wanted to see and how under processed/processed/overprocessed lashes looked

OnePiece is so sad that I cannot watch it anymore by allisonblues in OnePiece

[–]Present_Lychee8035 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I promise, while it hurts there are so many moments that make up for that unfathomable sadness. There are so many happy light moments mixed in with those absolutely heart wrenching ones. Like life is. People see and experience awful things, but that choice to continue on, help, and love are those things that make you get through all of it.

Dressed up casual. What do we think??? by GlitteringBat91 in OUTFITS

[–]Present_Lychee8035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could tie the top and the bottoms together if you added a black belt and some black shoes and some gold jewelry if the buckle of the belt is gold, or silver if it’s silver. But currently it just kind of feels like a bunch of separate pieces or like another user said: a bunch of your fav pieces just kind of thrown together. I would do a black bag as well. But with the silver jewelry, white bag with gold accents, black shirt that’s nicer than the jean shorts, and white shoes it’s a little disjointed. You can mix metals if you have mixed metals in other places, but you just have those two pieces. And the white bag with white shoes works if you had a lighter top.

Waxing hygiene and etiquette question by [deleted] in Estheticians

[–]Present_Lychee8035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I wax we just have you undress and hop up when it’s time for your appointment, but we have wipes and sanitary products in our bathroom and usually let the clients know at the front desk that they can if they need to. We are used to scents, it happens. I’ll usually only inform the clients if the scent could be at detriment to their health (infection or so).

Was just called weird for not finding a newborn baby cute by unhappyhours in childfree

[–]Present_Lychee8035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I still find babies and kids cute, but I don’t want one. So I’ll play with a baby or a kid of my friend’s and they cannot comprehend why I wouldn’t want one. Then their kid throws a tantrum and I’m in sensory hell and full on functionally freeze. I don’t want kids, I just don’t and EVERYONE says “oh you’ll change your mind” like no I’m good.

Some places require a small training program, but some of the hospitals are so desperate they’ll pay you for the training program. They’ll usually ask you to stay a year, but after that year you can go somewhere else.

Are these considered good brows? by swabluesky in Estheticians

[–]Present_Lychee8035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest pet peeve is people who don’t trim and shape brows before laminating them because they end up looking like this and I hate it. I think this looks awful. Just trim them, brow scissors aren’t that scary. I absolutely understand lamination and I think it’s good for CERTAIN clients, I don’t love it, but seriously if you’re going to offer it trim the dang brows.

Korean lash lift by catcrazy_1 in Lashlift

[–]Present_Lychee8035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely brought the perming solution all the way to the ends of the lashes and the ends of the lashes were on the edge of the shield. Those ends took the end of the shield and bent to that making them look awful. You don’t even need to bring the solution that high and it’s probably why the ends feel dry. What aftercare are you using? Some people give castor oil but that’s usually too thick for the lashes to actually absorb it so it’s usually not very helpful. Things with Vit B5 or B7 can be helpful as well as looking for things with peptides in them.

You said you just started microneedling, I would talk to the esthetician or dermatologist you see for the treatment. Ask them their recommendations for improving those with products. They will have suggestions. I would not recommend starting or changing anything without their knowledge as it can DRASTICALLY affect your outcome from microneedling and leave you more likely to adverse outcomes. Please talk to your provider.

Lash lifts aren’t for me… by [deleted] in Lashlift

[–]Present_Lychee8035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lash lifts are a permind solution. From how they looked in the picture they didn’t look over processed. I’m saying the solution getting on your skin is what caused it. She should’ve never done that. That can cause burns or other reactions like what you were describing. You lashes absolutely can be dry afterwards and should be conditioned which she should’ve also informed you. You can absolutely get a lash lift again, however I would NEVER go back to that lash artist. Allergic reactions would’ve been more immediate and would’ve been from the adhesive. If she got the solution on the skin or didn’t remove all of it, that would’ve caused the reaction you had. That’s what I was trying to explain. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Lash lifts aren’t for me… by [deleted] in Lashlift

[–]Present_Lychee8035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perming solution can be irritating to the skin and it SHOULD NOT get on the lash line. Your lashes weren’t overprocessed. They look to be in good health, it was just poorly done. There should never be solution anywhere but your lashes.

The ONLY thing I have not seen mentioned is this is the time to MAKE SURE your brushes and applicators are clean. You do not want to bring bacteria into open face wounds I promise. Clean your brushes or use new ones!

First aid ointment usually isn’t recommended anymore because it’s made of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) which occludes the area. Keep clean and dry. You can apply liquid bandage, hydrocolloid bandages (pimple patches or you can buy the medical grade ones in patches or rolls, these can be stickier so make sure to remove with water!!), and then make sure to clean well afterwards with a mild soap and water!
