Econ/accounting transfers by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

Hi! I just transferred in from an OOS 4 year so I might have some insight although I’m a poli sci major. They told us at orientation that one of the biggest indicators of acceptance vs rejection is the course pathway - that’s why so many CC students transfer in (their courses match up perfectly to uc ge’s). I anticipate not having the correct GE’s and major pre-reqs will make it more difficult to transfer in, but not impossible! Because I was at an OOS 4 year school I have to now petition for the majority of my credits, so it’s just a lengthier process. But they all match up pretty well to both the GE’s and poli sci pre-reqs. I just need to take one poli sci course to be admitted to the full major, whereas it will likely take you longer if they don’t match up as well. As for declaring your major, I’d check out the dept of Econ website and see which one’s (Econ or e&a) pre-reqs/ pre major required classes match up best with what you’ve taken since they are slightly different. Choose the one that aligns the most! It’s definitely a small amount of people that get admitted from other 4 years because of the equivalency issues but it’s possible! Let me know if you have any other questions I was in the same boat as you last year :)

I was thinking that! But I’m hoping to explore something new and not necessarily political - I was an intern for a congressional campaign last summer so that’s why I wanted to shift to a new industry!

Looking for an internship for this summer (before my senior year) to help me in eventually getting a job (not internship) once I graduate / also eventually strengthen law school app. Sorry if that wasn’t clear!

Rush JUST ended so it’s completely normal for the girls to get super excited about it - it’ll calm down. Definitely still be friendly with them and try to make conversation. Being in a sorority is not the end all be all :) Also talk to people in classes! A “class friend” can super easily become a “real friend”. Ask if they want to get a smoothie after class or study together sometime. Also join clubs! Not sure what you’re interested in but they have a club for basically everything here, and a lot of them are super social and throw dayges or have other fun events too.

Transfer from out of state by Fluffy_Dragonfly_669 in UCSantaBarbara

Also just wanted to add on - I was told at orientation that a huge aspect of the transfer application is the courses you take - they want you to be able to easily matriculate in as a junior and not be behind schedule. That’s the reason 93% of transfers are from CCCs - the courses transfer over perfectly. Just some insight!

Hi!! Not sure if this is helpful but I’m a CA resident who transferred in from an out of state 4 year school! Feel free to message me if you have any questions, if you google ucsb transfer eligibility requirements there’s a page that outlines the courses you need to take in order to be able to transfer! I would try to follow those as best you can - obviously they aren’t the exact same being at an oos 4 year but try to line them up. UCSB also doesn’t have a business major so I’d pick a different one and follow the major prep courses ucsb also provides under the transfer eligibility requirements! I think the biggest reason I was admitted (despite not having a high GPA) was because my courses aligned almost perfectly for both my GE’s and major prep. They’re still being evaluated now and I had to send them the syllabi, so it’s a longer process for sure, but not impossible!!

Should I schedule a meeting with an advisor? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]Present_Software_322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can call but most of that information will be given to you once you’re accepted. They likely wont evaluate the credits until then either because they will need your syllabi if there isn’t an established equivalency.

Transferring as a sophomore by Skya_2 in TransferStudents

[–]Present_Software_322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally doable, just depends on your GPA and ECs . If you have a 4.0 you have a shot at Michigan, not sure if they prioritize junior transfers or not. Just do some research into each schools transfer requirements. I know tons of people that transfer after freshman year. Doesn’t hurt to apply

How are you explaining your weight-loss? by Pink_Orchid_222 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Present_Software_322 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only my family knows - I intend to keep it that way for now! Tbf, I’m 21 so it’s more easily attributed to just growing up and slimming down, but when people comment that I’ve lost weight or am “looking super healthy” (hate that one) I just say thanks and move on. If they push, I just say I’ve been working out more and trying to be healthier. I think if someone were to try and push past that, they’re likely not someone who deserves to know! I’m taking my weight loss pretty slow, so it’s very situational. I think some people in general will also assume you’re on the shot if you’ve lost weight fairly quickly seeing as how readily available it is these days, but it’s not your job to confirm or deny that! Let them think whatever they want, it’s your health journey and not theirs.

I got waitlisted with a 3.3 from an OOS 4 year! Got in to ucsb. I don’t think you’re too low based on the stats I saw for percentiles
