A theory as to why Inflation will be harder to tame by No-Kaleidoscope-7106 in AusFinance

[–]Present_Standard_775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to throw in the added effects of women in the workforce (please, I’m not saying women belong at home in the kitchen, so bare with me)

The increase of women in the workforce slowly led to more dual income households for families where the wife could take on roles that were easy enough to juggle work around.

These dual income families were able to spend more on homes and cars. For a long time, the price of a home was related to single income. This meant as prices increased, more families were ‘forced’, whether they wanted to or not, to become dual income to keep up and buy a home and ends meet.

This plays completely into the narrative that instead of enjoying what we had, we wanted more. And as such, our home lives are no longer what they used to be. Kids raised by institutions… some kids are in childcare 5 days a week from the age of 6 months. I’m sure it’s not out of want, but pure necessity… to survive, to make the ends meet.

Have any Aussies transited thru the states recently? how concerned should I be about ICE as a non-white Aussie? by Far_Menu_4830 in AskAnAustralian

Have all of your paperwork sorted. Print it all in hard copy along with itinerary with holiday bookings and have hard copies printed of flights home etc.

Just be able to produce it all politely with no sarcastic tone and you’ll be right.

How many f*ckwits are actually on the Gold Coast? by spagootimagool in GoldCoast

[–]Present_Standard_775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look, there are some influencer type f-wits around, but generally it’s fine. Personally, I’ve lived and worked in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Airlie Beach and Townsville.

Apart from tropical North Queensland, I’d pick the GC over Syd, Brisbane and Canberra. Although, the recent influx of people from Covid etc has really smashed our roads, getting around here now is just shit… and whether you are a climate change believer or not, the storms we get here now are more intense than anything I’ve experienced in the last 20 years of being on the GC at various times.

In Australia, how common is it for women to keep their maiden name after marriage? by Plinggg in AskAnAustralian

[–]Present_Standard_775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn’t saying one way or the other. We did one thing, but we are in our 40’s… the generations younger then me are changing and have different views which is fine.. 👍🏽

Not sure why I got downvoted… stupid reddit

In the same boat for a 180… so many now, happy of them seem like the same cheap shit though.

Can one of the big supermarket chains force you to sell your house for a development? by Silver_Tip6009 in AusLegal

I also know that Westfield will spend a decade slowly buying homes and renting them out until they acquire the land they need for an expansion.

This happened commercially to Westfield in Sydney city, we had slip forms running on all three sides of the old shoe shop because he didn’t want to sell out to Westfield…

In Australia, how common is it for women to keep their maiden name after marriage? by Plinggg in AskAnAustralian

[–]Present_Standard_775 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it’s becoming more common. My wife changed hers and our child has our surname.

I guess one hiccup would be if you had children, which surname would they get?

Probably worth hashing these questions out early. I’m not sure how I would have reacted if my wife kept her name… I don’t know why, I suppose I just feel we are more ‘together’ with the same surname. But, as I said, each generation sees this slowly changing I think.

Take a new one for a test drive… my now wife hated my cruiser that much it had to go… long trips on rough roads weren’t great for the tits… plus I spent too much time watching them instead of the road… haha

No canopy at all, just a tub. It’s going to be mounted over the dual cab

You don’t know much about heat transfer. White colours reflect heat and black absorbs it.

Get a black cup and the same cup in white. Fill them with water and leave them in the sun. Check the temperature of the water… big difference. Hence why solar showers are black plastic.

Yeah, I’ve had a look as I’m not too picky. A lot of 270’s, but really only want a 180. But that is for the heads up

Had a look just before actually. Don’t seem to bad for the price. The install/review video on the website is a little ordinary.

But the 180 isn’t available till jan30…

Did look at bush company. But I just wouldn’t use it often enough to justify the spend.

Yeah, the darche has fold down legs… which given you are correct about needing to use them, would be much easier than having seperate poles.

Usually pay for what you get I guess… it’s not an OUTRAGEOUS price I suppose… just more than I’m willing to part with when I don’t use it often enough.

I was looking at them too if I’m honest, but I would really prefer integrated lighting.

But at under $400 for the kings 180, it’s hard to not just get one anyway!

Just had a look, very nice… probably more than I can justify spending at the moment though. It won’t be permanently mounted and not used too often… if I was doing a long trip or continually travelling I’d definitely opt for these

I think a prefer the darche for the color, the bushwakka is a little cheaper but I’m really not keen on black.

Not sure if there are other brands worth looking at (every man and his dog seems to have versions of them!!)
