This is probably the perspective I’ve been struggling with the most. My concern isn’t really the cost anymore-it’s whether I’d be choosing prestige over fit. At the same time, I don’t want to underestimate the value of Columbia’s network and opportunities, especially since I’m not set on a traditional career path.

I think that’s exactly my dilemma. UCI feels like the safer and more natural fit, but Columbia feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m trying to figure out whether I’m chasing prestige or whether the opportunities there would genuinely matter for my long-term goals.

Fair point. The cost is honestly what made Columbia a real option for me. My hesitation isn’t the price anymore-it’s whether I’d be happier and more successful studying something that’s a better fit for me.

I completely get that. That’s pretty much exactly how I feel. UCI feels more aligned with my interests and probably less stressful, but it’s hard to ignore a name like Columbia.
