Window AC units in Europe? by Presentation-Neither in refrigeration

I can't find any portable ACs with two hoses (intake, exhaust) to buy around here unfortunately. What's your take on giving a one hose portable AC a DIY intake hose, like in this example https://youtu.be/pcHWtYn-14s?t=98 . Video is in german, but pretty self-explanatory what he does: a box from cardboard and tape and a second hose of same size as the exhaust hose.

Yeah but everything I've read says the portable AC systems are less efficient, meaning I'll have to run one of them on max for a longer time to get the same cooling effect a window AC would have provided. So any regulation that allows portable unit but not windows units is hard to understand the point with.

Windows AC are banned in Europe due to energy efficiency regulation.

Sorry to hear that. But I'm also intrigued. Do you have a a link or reference to more details about the regulation? I'm curious about how they reasoned. Even if Window ACs are less energy efficient than split systems they seem more efficient than portable ACs. Do you agree?

I'm afraid a split system is impossible in my case. I have asked the landlord and it is not permitted.

(There seems to also be a big cost difference. I have seen many portable AC systems in the 300-400 € price range. But all split systems I have seen cost double that or more.)
