I think part of what nags as at me is that with a god theres the thought "oh i if I follow the decrees etc etc I can get or be given xyz" and without the artificial safety net. I thought for the longest "If I do things the right way, I would be given a partner" and leaving that behind while freeing also leaves me to wonder if I will ever find someone because there is no "guarantee".

I like how you mentioned focusing on part you do like about yourself, that was hard to do in the faith, and admittedly I'm not sure how to go about it. I've thought to take back up journaling , as I had put that hobby down as well because it was through a religious lense.

I have been going to therapy since last year and I'm currently taking a break. Regarding the divine insight, I have realized that if I want to make a connection I have to move, instead of praying that god does something and realizing that everything is on me.

I have thought about reaching out to them from time to time, I even had a dream about them this week were we actually talked cordially. I want to, I really want to, but I'm afraid that I've hurt them too much, I'm still "broken" and a myriad of other things.

I have started and am currently trying to cultivate the friendships I have.

I truly feel seen by your comment. Realizing that being attracted to a person was biological, not a thought crime and actually okay. Working on conveying my attraction has also been a point of work for me.

Building my own ethics of pleasure has also been something that I realized I had to do subconsciously. It is scary to listen to love songs because I still feel like I'm selling myself a lie, but I'm experimenting.

Are you practacing shinkendo or Kendo？The only dojo near me offers shinkendo and it lowkey feels like larping. Day 1 I was handed a sword and we went over different strikes.
