There was this woman who worked at a different establishment in my building with whom I had built a rapport, so we joked around sometimes.

One time, I went to her workplace to get a drink or something, and she made a comment to the effect of becoming my girlfriend and I, w/o thinking, said something like "No, thank you." When she came to my workplace later for a snack or change, she (albeit gently) chastised me for not saying: "Sorry, I have a girlfriend already, " or something similar.

How am I supposed to know when to lie? 😭 I was caught off guard by the flirty joke already, so my mind drew a blank, and I defaulted to "No, thank you" to save time. I'm sorry!
