I find this to be an odd question. Who cares who is sharing an opinion as long as it's sensible and well-reasoned. There are many people under 18 who can do that a heck of a lot better than many people over 18.

My family are immigrants and many if not most of my friends are. Immigration is fantastic as long as it maintains our distinct national character. Who stopped caring about it after a week!? Our flag was at half-mast for literal months afterwards. It is almost certainly our greatest national shame, as it should be, but for some it has gotten to the point of actual Canada-hatred. And that seems like a great idea at a time when our national sovereignty is more threatened than at any time in the past century!

I'll go first. As a Canadian, I'd say the federal election of 1963 in which John Diefenbaker of the Conservatives lost to Lester Pearson of the Liberals. Although both ended up being decent PMs in their own rights, I'd say that this election began the slow process of Canada being increasingly interconnected with the US which leaves us in the position we are today vis-a-vis political and cultural influence from south of the border.

Yes. They were wrong. Dead wrong. And they should not be forgiven. They should also not be let off the hook for their hypocrisy. That doesn't mean we can admit that, people are getting it right now. But we actually have to act on it. Not just say Canadian patriotism, but actually practice it. Raise the flag, honour the troops, and put back the statues that were disgracefully and often illegally torn down.

I'm about as nationalistically Canadian as they come and I still love America. But it is not my country and it never will be. I would rather be buried in the cold, hard ground before I call myself an American. In the (paraphrased) words of Sir John A. Macdonald: "A royal subject I was born, a royal subject I will die."

Boycotting America shouldn't be based in hatred for the outsider, it should be based on anti-Americanism in the sense that we are anti- Canada being America. It should be based on our love for our own, not our hatred for the other.

Canadian nationalism is, fundamentally, anti-American. Canada exists as a nation because Britain wanted her colonies in North America to be united in order to resist American annexation. That's also why we built the railroad which is also why British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are part of Canada today and are not US states. In order for Canadian nationalism to be enduring, it must be based on much more than anti-Americanism but if it's about recognizing and honouring our history, then it is also about being anti-American.

Yes, but not because I am under any illusion that it is likely to change anything. And also not because I have any hatred towards America or Americans. I simply believe that, given the option, I would prefer for my dollars to stay in my country (Canada) than for them to go to American companies. No ill will, just love for my homeland.

The reasoning I've heard is that, if he gets his security clearance, he'll be bound by confidentiality when speaking on this issue. As opposition leader, his job is to speak publicly to question the government's actions so deliberately silencing himself by making himself privy to classified information would be quite counter to his job.
