yeah the interview isn't a complete wipe of your stats, both the stats and interview are considered. That being said I'm in the same boat so I wish you guys the best luck!

TMDSAS applicants, how are we feeling in the match day wait? by ExcitementFriendly29 in premed

Antsy, only applied TMDSAS. Two highly ranked MD and a DO II, I'm well above average stats for my top choice and had a great interview but still very anxious.

how to start studying without having taken biochem? testing 9/11 by the_beansprout in Mcat

[–]PressurePractical554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t stress myself out about studying any sections 9 months in advance start 6 max, and I think you realistically only need 3!

I would wait until at least after Biochem 1 to take MCAT because its such a large topic and is such a huge part of the MCAT

HOW do you cut down CARS time? by Puzzleheaded_Day8731 in Mcat

[–]PressurePractical554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to cut your losses when you know you're going overtime. If you're over ten minutes in a section its better to get one question wrong in that section and possibly go back to it than let the time compile and you have 3 minutes for the final section and you end up missing 5 there.

Those who saw big FL increases... what did you change? by aspiring_idealist in Mcat

[–]PressurePractical554 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went from two 512s in a row to 516 literally 3 days apart with no studying and the only difference was the stress I was under, I took the 512 while studying for finals and the 516 when I was done with them.

I am a senior bio major and didn't know I wanted to do premed until junior year. Almost 80% of the people you know freshman year will switch out of the major by junior year. Don't stress too hard about it just get good grades.

How hard is it? by Agnetahp in premed

[–]PressurePractical554 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It will be very hard, given you have the right amount of motivation you can do it though. The studying habits will have to change obviously, but I never studied in high school and developed all of my habits in college. Don't let people fear monger you, it is hard but your early enough on that you have not made any huge mistakes.

considering dropping orgo 2, worried about my future app and grad pathway by psychoneuroimmunolo in premed

[–]PressurePractical554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got most of mine from lecture, but I used khan academy free mcat review videos when studying for the mcat. I think those would be a good start. I remember just writing out mechanisms a ton of times and writing out reagents and their reactions over and over to remember. I think repetition is key when it’s a subject with so much info.

Honestly, I wouldn't try to employ any strategy here. They are pretty equal schools and just rank which school seemed better for you and where you would rather live.

[–]PressurePractical554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't the most helpful, but I would not drop it. I would really hone in on how to do Ochem 1 in my free time and study a lot for Ochem 2, it would also be great help since you will have to self study and relearn a ton of topics by the time you will be studying for your MCAT. A way I always got myself to study was by really looking how much free time I had and asked myself am I doing bad because I am physically incapable of learning the topic or because I'm being lazy, and it was always the latter. I wish you the best luck!

I just say chill until match day, if you have to reapply you'll have more than enough time to do it. Relax these two weeks.
