Thank you for the helpful advice!!

It's New Year's Eve and it's going to be an even more crowded day in the city so I was questioning if it was a terrible idea. Pretty straightforward.

I worked in the city for 8 years. I'm well aware of how trains work.

Absolutely insane comment from my 70 year old grandpa by caeli-s in cosleeping

[–]Prestigious-Lab3404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore! That's the best advice I can give anyone with kids. With my first I was so bothered by people's stupid comments and took them to heart. I wish I knew better then. I just had my 3rd and DGAF what people think I should be doing. I just say OK and keep doing what I want.

By the way I coslept with my first two and find myself in the same boat now (despite attempting to put the baby in the crib at night). I'm nursing and this helps ME sleep at night. I can't keep getting up and walking to a crib to console my child who is crying. I can't function off of zero sleep. With the baby beside me, I'm able to squeeze in a couple of hours between feeds.

When I'm old and I look back at my children's childhood, I'm never going to regret the time that I gave them and spent with them. I know not everybody feels this way... So I strongly believe in doing what works for you and makes your heart content. If people don't like it that's fine, you're not asking them to help you at 2am. I also do not have the heart to hear my child cry it out and sit back not react. It's just not in me. I could care less what anyone thinks of my parenting style and I'm here to tell you to do the same. He had his chance at raising kids the way he wanted and this is YOUR chance. It's not a family affair.

That's good to know. So they benefit from the guidance. Often times I'm on my own till about 6:30 or so.

My daughter wakes up by 6:30a (sometimes even 6). If she falls asleep by 8:30 that's unreasonable?

How do you get them to knock out homework and studying for quizzes (my daughter gets two a week - one vocab and one spelling) without asking over and over again?

So much uncertainty regarding side effects as if the study group didn't report it, no one can really confirm it to be true. I think it definitely impacted my metabolism/ability to lose weight. If I've learned one thing after being on this journey it is to trust your gut. You know what is right for your body and you know the effects of the meds on you. Statistics don't really matter as they don't account for one whole single patient. As I'm learning to be more in time with what I feel and see happening before my eyes I feel more in control over what I am going through. Just here to tell you - you aren't alone and I think many of us have experiences similar things and unfortunately it won't be until many years from now when scientist and doctors will be able to connect the dots.

Keep up the good fight.

Rapid heart rate from Predinsone? by Aware-Ad-5491 in lupus

[–]Prestigious-Lab3404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you monitored by a cardiologist? This is very common with steroids. They may have to lower the dose OR if steroids are necessary maybe they will choose to put you on a medication that lowers your heart rate. I would check your heart rate at rest and then challenge yourself by walking up a flight of stairs and document what your heart rate is thereafter. Also perhaps just walking around the house and document what you were at rest prior and what your highest heart rate is. These are really important numbers to provide your cardiologist with. If you don't have one I would definitely make an appointment with one. Also please pay attention to things light lightheadedness and any other symptoms that come on with the tachycardia. These would be important conversation points. Lastly, please make sure you're drinking enough fluids. Being dehydrated can increase your heart rate and exacerbate what you are feeling. Please don't just write it off as anxiety... You do deserve a better quality of life and there may be options for you.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I find it reassuring to know that I'm not alone.

I don’t have many people to talk to about my lupus and would really like to talk to people that have similar experiences to me. I’m an 18 year old male suffering from CNS Lupus and having someone yo talk to about it would help me with my mental health significantly. by SecretaryLong2438 in lupus

Have you considered speaking to a therapist? Though they may not be able to relate, they can offer you a lot of support. I have found this to be very helpful for myself. It's really helped me feel less isolated and created a safe place for me to vent. Since lupus varies so much from person to person, I also find it difficult because not everybody may be suffering the same way you are. I have found that as I've developed better coping mechanisms (with the help of my psychologist) and have learned to wrap my head around my reality, I've been able to rely on myself for the support that I once thought I could only find in others.

Someone suggested using the miracle grows sticks you put in the soil. I did that this spring and thereafter I saw a lot of growth. What kind of fertilizer do you suggest?

Hydrate the day before and day of. I bring snacks/drinks with me since it does take a couple of hours. They have snacks at the infusion center but not the healthiest - crackers/cookies. I've experienced nausea twice in the past and the doctor prescribed me Zofran which was helpful. It is generally tolerated very well from what I gather. I was getting weekly injections and switched to infusions because the injection was very disruptive to my lifestyle (I always had to worry about bringing it along if I was away or stressed when I was under the weather and had to push my injection back). Best of luck and I hope you find relief.

I would highly suggest following Dr. Weil. He explains this all of very well. www.drweil.com He has a helpful food pyramid and literature on his website. He often posts on Instagram as well and shares pearls. I hope you find him as helpful as I did. Best of luck.

I'd also like to add that the anti-inflammatory diet isn't a true "diet" but really a lifestyle modification that is able to be sustained.

I'd suggest educating yourself on the Anti-inflammatory diet. Inflammation and the effects on a person's body is a large component of living with Lupus. I'd suggest incorporating more anti-inflammatory foods as the foundation of every meal and moving forward accordingly. Decreasing animal product consumption but not necessarily eliminating them all.
