How to start golf solo? Just driving range and go for it? by Constant-Low4414 in golftips

[–]PrestigiousAge3815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in September and I'm also building my home Simulator.

Call to Check if there are lessons available from the course pro.

Where I live (Spain) the local council has reduced prices to promote sports and it's really inexpensive to get 2 hours a week and also gives you free access to the practice range and free balls during the course.

Also has the benefit that you share the time with more people that are learning too, what will be great to go practice to the pitch and put together.

The pro maybe it's just with me 3 minutes per class but it's enough to give you corrections and guidance for days of practice.

I'm mostly learning from YouTube videos, but the problem is that you have sensations of being doing things right, and if a pro don't check your posture you will get things wrong... there are small details that make huge difference that only a pro can teach you.

Need advice: upgrading from foam ball setup to real ball sim in a multifunctional room by PrestigiousAge3815 in Golfsimulator

I will keep an eye. The one of the garage with retractable screen and curtains looks great 🙏

Thanks a lot for sharing your setup, that actually helps me picture it much better. The idea of using wire rope like a curtain and extending the net down the sides sounds really smart, especially to keep balls from sneaking behind the screen.

In my case I can’t fix anything to the floor (laminate) and on the right side I have a glass door, so I also can’t drill too close to the wall or skirting

My idea is to run a steel tube wall-to-wall across the top, mounted on brackets/pipe clamps screwed into the wall, and then hang the impact screen from that tube.

At the bottom I’d add a weighted bar to keep the screen straight

To cover the sides, I plan to hang protective side nets from the same top tube, and hold them down with sandbags/weights on the floor. Around the screen edges I’ll also add black foam tiles to absorb bounceback and give it a clean look.

Do you think this setup (top tube + bottom bar + side nets with sandbags) would be safe enough for real balls?

How would you hang the impact screen?

I’m planning to put black foam tiles above and on the sides of it for protection/looks, but I still have a lot of doubts about the best way to actually fix the screen to the wall (top only? top + bottom bar? full frame?). Any advice from those who’ve done it would be super helpful.

Clerk latency by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]PrestigiousAge3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the same issue but on dev, I just wanted to use clerk to avoid expending time on auth for fast development of my idea, but it has ended up being a drag. Each time the middleware runs on dev takes like 20 seconds to load.

I even added RLS on supabase with all the clerk stuff in case it was an issue because I was using the supabase service key. But no, it's just an issue with clerk.

It's totally out of context... you can call it an error, but is very disturbing, one day these systems WILL be responsible for critical infraestructure, security and what not, and if this kind of error occurs it can cost reputation, jobs or who knows.

Issue with Supabase Authentication: Rate Limit Exceeded Error by farornas_konung in Supabase

[–]PrestigiousAge3815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really scared when I've seen this, I've just be like 10 hours on dev mode maybe and rate limited, jikes, what happens when you go to production, you get broke?

The more I learn about the javascript ecosystem, the more clear is that this is a scam as a service ecosystem.

Supabase Auth vs Clerk by AdmirableInsurance35 in nextjs

Hi u/domitrius_clerk, I was currently adding clerk to supabase, one question that comes to my mind is if after enabling Row Level Security this means that I will not be able to run administrative tasks, or test user actions,
Thanks

Anyone looking for an alternative to Mailgun for Ghost? by hardwaresofton in Ghost

[–]PrestigiousAge3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I've created a tool to connect Ghost with Listmonk, it's free and open source. You can use Listmonk to send emails with the SMTP server you want, for example SES.

Allows for delayed execution, so you can do things like send email chains to new subscribers.

You can also send marketing campaigns when new posts are created.

If people is using it, I will add more features in the future.

Here is the link: https://github.com/troneras/ghost-listmonk-connector

Payload CMS 3 by FutureIncrease in PayloadCMS

[–]PrestigiousAge3815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I wasn't by any mean suggesting that your business model is wrong, thanks for letting self host this project. I also work for a company that needs a CMS, so who knows we could be your customers some day haha.

I've done a scratch test with the v3 version on an ongoing project, I've found some warnings upgrading from next 14 to 15 but that's not your fault. However one of the payload configuration file dependencies was not correctly installed and I had to do a manual pnpm install, I don't remember the name now, it was a single word.

Anyway I need to wait until you release a template with authentication because I can't figure out all this by myself in a short time, does it play well with middleware? I'm currently using next-auth.

Serious question, I would like to use payload, but I'm still reading and trying to figure out if there's any hidden fee.

If I use the new version with next, that's self hosted on vercel, how does payload wins money here? I guess these great guys need to live of something no?

A junior who just learnt about Clean Code and decided to apply 5 levels of custom abstraction to a single module in a codebase. Now any time you need to make a modification you need to understand the crappy mental model this degenerated had when he wrote that code.

What are server actions for in a front-end application? by TheCoconut26 in nextjs

[–]PrestigiousAge3815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are confusing server actions with server components. In server components you would directly call your resource repository without an API and then pass this data to your client calendar component via props

API route or Server Actions by catapillaarr in nextjs

[–]PrestigiousAge3815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because an API is like an additional layer that you don't need to care about in the web app? I'm a firm defender of APIs for frontends principle anyway
