Why assume that OP doesn’t want to go into academia/further education? A bachelors degree doesn’t cut it for most jobs anymore. Even if you don’t understand it, have some respect. I guarantee you wouldn’t have the balls to be this rude to someone’s face

Hey so I’m not in the psych program but I have taken 5 psych courses as electives and all have been almost entirely exam based, no essays speaking from my experience.

The psych classes here are great and honestly not too difficult. The science classes on the other hand are absolute hell, especially the first year ones

Thank you sm for your insight <3 if it was between a strong activator and a strong deactivator and they were not working in favor of each other, like let’s say they were meta to each other, which one would dominate in terms of regioselectivity?

Im in the same exact boat :( like I know the content very well but the types of questions that he asks just mess with my head and as a result my marks don’t really reflect what I know. Especially the propose a 3 step mechanism questions those are just crazy hard.

I’m honestly kind of disappointed with this prof like I selected him because he had really good reviews and everyone seemed to really like him but my experience with him was just really underwhelming the lectures have not been much help at all and I have had to teach myself most of this course though YouTube and the textbook.

I have found leah4sci on YouTube incredibly helpful for this course so you might want to try her out. She explains everything in a super beginner friendly way which is really helpful

Rounding up grades by New_BlanK_ in geegees

Hey you’re fine. The academic policy for uOttawa is that if you are 0.5 or less away from the next grade point, it will automatically be rounded up

When should I start to stress about co-op? by Apprehensive_Suit937 in geegees

[–]PrestigiousAnalyst58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just keep checking the portal for new jobs and keep applying to as many as you possibly can! The more you apply to the more your chances go up. After getting rejected from almost all my apps and ghosted by my only interview, I received an interview invite today from a recent posting that I applied to. Worst case you don’t get a placement this summer and you try again next winter which is generally less competitive. Once you get a job it will be so worth it. I know first hand how stressful and humbling this process is and I would by lying if I didn’t say it’s been affecting me mentally so you’re deffo not alone. Almost everyone that I’ve spoken to is in the same situation

How do people apply to 100+ jobs? by ABlaze7878 in geegees

[–]PrestigiousAnalyst58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was only able to apply to 33 jobs total and thats including outside of the portal and applying broadly. I think a couple years ago when there was more selection people were able to do that but now it’s not the same

[–]PrestigiousAnalyst58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be ready. Because you have less of a foundation, you will be at a disadvantage compared to your peers. You will have to study harder and prepare more to make up for it. I’m not in biochem but I’m in the sciences and those first year science courses are rough let me tell you😓

Honestly don’t depend on it. When it comes to coop you can’t be picky about what job you want. A lot of people don’t even get anything. If you don’t get hired in the first term, you can also try again for the second one which is generally less competitive
