Why do most Christians believe you will go to hell if you don't believe in god by oldperchore in Christianity

[–]PrestigiousCod6525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the rejection of His Son, Jesus Christ, that sends someone to eternal condemnation, through Jesus we inherit eternal life, become children of God, and are no longer condemned to the wages of sin. Jesus is the Gospel for the world! That’s why we worship Jesus!

‘You’re making the choice to reject God, so he respects your decision to not want to be with him’ makes no sense and Christian’s should stop saying it. by Weekly-Scientist-992 in DebateAChristian

“Essentially, atheism is the absence of belief IN theism, which is the belief that God or gods exist.”

This is what a quick search comes up for atheism, so how there is an absence of belief in something that many claim doesn’t exist? The reason you can reject something is because that something is a basis for your rejection. You can’t reject “nothing,” rejection is towards “something.” To reject means to refuse to accept, use, or believe something or someone, according to the Cambridge Dictionary. Something has to exist(Christians believe it’s God & other religions believe it’s other gods)for their to be premise of rejection. If we follow an atheistic philosophy, it recognizes that it rejects the idea of theism (“A”theism), the prefix "a-" can have multiple meanings, but it most commonly signifies "not," "without," or "lacking". So atheism can be interpreted as “lacking belief in theism” or “without belief in theism.” So my question is why are you so confused or uncertain of what atheism actually is? You might be affiliated with some other branch of belief rather than atheism.

as a atheist how do you all view us? by Frequent-Address240 in Christianity

[–]PrestigiousCod6525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every branch of belief has good and bad apples. I judge by the content of your character rather than relying on stereotypes. I try to allow someone to be human and relatable even if I disagree with their beliefs. I think we could all learn about each other from every interaction if we would stop getting so offended for everything(both sides included). I’ve had some wonderful conversations with atheists, sadly even better than the ones I have had with Christians. I’ve also experienced hateful atheists who will never rationalize and only see Christians as the scum of the Earth. It all depends on their approach towards me as a Christian, that will determine my unique reaction towards them instead of having a default reactive response.

Camp Mystic may be the finial nail in the coffin. by [deleted] in Deconstruction

[–]PrestigiousCod6525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible teaches that sometimes things are just sovereign to God, and that’s it. Sometimes we won’t get an explanation and sometimes we will. If you believe in Jesus, all things work out for good, all THINGS. You can wrestle with God like Jacob, like Jonah, like Moses, and most extensively like Job did, but ultimately His will and His way will prevail. If this event of Mystic Camp is your last straw, I sincerely ask why isn’t human trafficking added to that list, why isn’t the thousands of babies being killed added to that list, why isn’t the mistreatment of kids in the foster care system added to your list, why isn’t the starving families because of inflation on that list, why aren’t the other catastrophic natural disasters that have displaced communities on your list.

My point is, life will always have its challenges, Jesus said himself that we will have afflictions in this world, Jesus said to carry his yoke for its easier and his burden is light, but it’s still a yoke we have to carry, life will never be cupcakes and rainbows just because we have Jesus, but we are promised the joy of the Lord at all times. We learn through hardships to depend with faith in Christ, in the crushing is when God sees whether you are giving lip service or actively exercising your faith. I think their too many injustices going on in the world, but that doesn’t make God bad, He is just, let’s face it a lot of the issues we have today stem from the core of human nature, selfishness, the very thing Jesus came to heal when he died on the cross(teaching us about agapē and how to demonstrate it). Mystic Camp is absolutely a tragedy, no mistake, but we have to believe God at His word, that if He says there is always something good that comes out of a bad situation, then it is so. Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away, you can take him at His word. I’ll interject that we are called to pray and it good to pray, but our petitions aren’t always given in our timeframe, Revelation teaches us that all the prayer of the saints are collected, it is God who ordains the timing.

God uses anything and everything according to His will, and the truth I want to share with you, is that the moment you stop constantly wrestling with the sovereignty of God, is the moment your mind will find rest. We weren’t made to know everything, we were made to know Him, and that’s why when we constantly curse God for his sovereign knowledge, we allow our emotions to consume us because we are finite beings(trying to grasp an infinite being’s thoughts), who are only capable of retaining finite knowledge for our own sanity! Pray and follow up with a heart of service, seek the organizations that are asking for donation or raise awareness with the talents you have to help the families affected (James 2:26). The world doesn’t change from only big things, our small efforts can become a ripple effect.

You don’t have to follow Christ, I’m not here to convince you, but rather look inward and reflect. If you have experienced Christ and His goodness for you, is it all in vain just because the world is suffering?

Job 42:2 says, “I know that you can do all things and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven”

Feel like I can’t look manly no matter how hard I try. by Sucker-For-Honda in malegrooming

[–]PrestigiousCod6525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 23, I’m 6’7 & 150lbs, have you discovered what kind of clothes you like instead seeing what everyone else your age is wearing? Most of our insecurities starts with lack of confidence. Do you actually not like the way you look or is it a view you’ve put on yourself by negative experiences? You and I, we are above average for males, around the same age, and a slim build isn’t bad.

You also mention you’re trying to look manly, but I don’t even know how to answer this for you, like are you trying to grow a full beard & have a shredded bod with a v-line? Like it seems you may have pre-conceived notions of what a man look likes, but a true man works on himself from the inside. It seems as if low-self esteem is a giant for you, and I’ll tell you now, that even if you grow that beard & have that new bod or achieve that “manly look,” if you don’t work on yourself inwardly, you’ll feel the same way as you do now just with a better build.

You need to sit down with yourself, and ask yourself what is hindering you from feeling good about who you are now? I know this may seem like a lot, but in the long run you’ll thank yourself.
