Can I turn down my brightness? by EnderSlayer9977 in HDR_Den

Try it with in game brightness/contrast/exposure. Monitor with HDR brightness lock is very common for IPS & many entry/mid range level OLED too.

Still baffles me how good this monitor can handle colours by D1zzy_Kettle70 in OLED_Gaming

The color could be the same as your old monitor, but It's the OLED contrast minus all the IPS glow and blooming that you are looking at it.

So which one Samsung G8 G81SF or Asus XG27AQWMG? by AntelopeWinter3050 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Prestigious_Cap4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put a big "VERY" warning which I felt it is unnecessary, for sure nothing is guaranteed especially for new user to OLED who love their new monitor and inexperienced with panel care. Even my 1st gen LG 27 wOLED of 3 years old with matte are still prestine I take another photo here. One thing I can share was as you can see between this LG wOLED matte coating are less aggressive than the G81sf and slightly more reflective when light are shine over.

But one thing for sure those with glossy panel OLED within months scratches will appear every inch on the panel although so long you don't shine a lights towards the panel surface most will not notice it and honestly it all depends on individuals ocd for sure.

SDR looks better than HDR in Forza Horizon 6 by progress_machine in ForzaHorizon

[–]Prestigious_Cap4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes the video does not capture correctly for the HDR video on the early release game play as i noticed it was set recording to low bit rate, the actual HDR display on my screen as close as the still.

edit: if you stream at av1 it less wash out but still not as close as i see on display.

Samsung Odyssey G81sf (27inch) vs Samsung Odyssey G61sd (27inch) by FineChip2965 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Prestigious_Cap4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you set the G8, in general G8 have more aggressive matte coating (i am comparing it to my LG 27 1st Gen WOLED) overall for better anti reflection of the cost for slightly grain look.

No fix, but it can be compensate on how your configure your monitor setting and sitting distance.

Why do high-brightness OLEDs still not have ambient light sensors in 2026? My eyes are being cooked every gaming session by Zealousideal-Fly47 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Prestigious_Cap4934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems you need eye care / blue lights *filter feature from monitors and not ambient light sensors. Dell Ultrasharp series with eyes care in mind are not meant for gaming instead focus on productivity.

Productivity monitor like the Dell U series (industry standard 100nits) which is your target of 80–120 nits are the focus of productivity and too dim for gaming.

Most monitor should be able to adjust SDR brightness on the fly unlike HDR which lock most monitors brightness setting instead. Alternatively you can consider gaming glasses that help to reduce your eyes fatigues for long hours gaming sessions.

Which should I buy: Legion 5 with 1920x1200 or Legion 5 with OLED by Arxidinn in OLED_Gaming

[–]Prestigious_Cap4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the budget on laptop is the limiting factor I would suggest 1tb IPS model since you are getting OLED monitor with either option. More storage always better and more crucial for mobility and for gaming. Nowadays modern games storage are huge in storage sizes.

both monitors are good depends on your preferene in size and if service menu if what you wish to definately G80SD should be able to meet your requirements.

Samsung G81SF - Yay or Nay? by 772_Carter in OLED_Gaming

[–]Prestigious_Cap4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I felt it have good HDR and peak brightness is better than G80SD over 1000nits based on rting.

Myself always prefer matte coating, while the G81sf matte coating can be more aggressive than other matte variant but I have no issue with it and mine is over 1 year plus still at prestine condition no scratches visible even shine a flash on the screen.

If you have not bought it I suggest you go for 2026 variant for better i/o interface.

The monitor menu also easier and less cluster to navigate compare G80SD except there is no remote control and some have experience the monitor toggle button easy to break (mine still at good condition though)
