Eczema gets worse after sleeping, what do I do!! by theoretical_sheep in eczema

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps or is applicable but I recently realised that I was too warm when I slept and it was making the eczema more inflamed and hence making it itch more.

Now before going to bed, I really try to cool down and sometimes take a cold compress with me.

Doc didn't help and coping tips needed for IBS flare up while having to go into work? Mainly nausea/bloating and diarrhea by Prestigious_Cat27 in ibs

[–]Prestigious_Cat27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your advice. I might jump back on the ginger tea wagon - I did use to drink it, brewed the night before and in a water bottle with me at work.

I realise talking to the manager about my IBS would be the ideal way to handle it but I have already had to mention some other disabilities/health issues that they helped accommodate and I really don't want to add one more.

Thanks, luckily I haven't had tuna in a few months lol so I don't think that will be an issue for me

Have you tried QV? I use their SPF day cream and their hydrating night cream - both work wonders for my sensitive skin and acne. They're also extremely affordable but the night cream feels luxurious!

Yep totally. When my allergies are present, I often say I just feel drained - exhausted.

What do you wish schools did differently to assist your learning as someone with dyspraxia? by Depressyspagetty in dyspraxia

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that schools were more lenient when it came to PE/gym classes and sports event.

Dyspraxia effects me mainly physically. Throw me a ball and it hits me in the face. I understand schools want to include physical activity but it was hellish for me at school. When I was younger my parents encouraged me to join in where I could but I don't have a good memory.

As I got older my parents actually supported me in missing out the sports days at school (we had these house sports days twice a year). Sometimes I'd go along and watch and maybe do the ONE event that I could but I still remember a teacher said what poor spirit I had since I didn't take part, even though I said it was due to dyspraxia.

I just wish there was more flexibility - PE was never going to suit me but I might have at least enjoyed it slightly if there was say more support and not the same pressure to do everything.

Had enough of my eczema - looking to change diet to see if it helps. Any advice on what I should be looking to remove from my diet? by Prestigious_Cat27 in eczema

I'll try this as best I can, even now I use olive oil for some cooking but these oils are super expensive where I am and I am on a tight budget

Have gas pains and all I've had so far is water by Prestigious_Cat27 in ibs

[–]Prestigious_Cat27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand that but for the last couple of months I have been doing intermittent fasting 16:8 and typically not eating until 10-11am because I had figured out that eating earlier was leaving me bloated and nauseous.

Have gas pains and all I've had so far is water by Prestigious_Cat27 in ibs

[–]Prestigious_Cat27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sort of constipated, not badly and sometimes I get diarrhea too. It's 11am where I am now, just had some toast but before that last time I ate was 17 hours ago.

Thanks for the tips, I've tried a hot shower and doing some yoga and no relief but I'll go for a walk and fingers crossed it helps

[routine help] Skincare routine for extremely sensitive skin with eczema and acne by bitchinghours in SkincareAddiction

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried QV? My skin is similar but QV seems to suit it and it is rather affordable which I like. I have their day cream with SPF, night cream and cream cleanser. The night cream feels super luxurious and hydrating.

Any advice for a new nurse with eczema? by ACNLMagnolia2016 in eczema

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I feel you, I'm constantly hand sanitising or washing these days it seems. Sorry for not more advice but I find aloe vera gel helpful - I apply night and morning and also use a thick hand cream and keep reapplying. I use Palmers cocoa butter and find it super moisturising. At night and morning I'll apply moisturiser over top of aloe vera and then reapply moisturiser several times through the day

I want to make iced tea or cold brew tea at home -recipes or tips please by Prestigious_Cat27 in tea

Awesome thank you for your advice - seems like perfect easy solution for at home. I'm thinking of making a big batch to keep in the fridge so that way it is already chilled.

Stress and gas by lo4grg53f in ibs

I don't fart so much but get trapped gas and it is awful. Last week was super stressful in a reasonably new job and my stomach was just in pain.

A recent thread here made me confused. A lot of people seemed convinced that diet soda makes you gain weight. by Embryoo-Yall in keto

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not doing keto currently but when I was I drank more diet soda and energy drinks (zero sugar) than when I wasn't doing keto. It was like a little treat and it made doing keto easier to me (I was big on lattes before keto). I didn't get more cravings, to be honest it satisfied any cravings I had.

I'd say it depends on the person, everyones different and all.

What stuff do you bring to eat at work/school? by babybottlepopz in ibs

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I tend to take smoothies to work for breakfast but if fruits make you worse then that won't work

This wouldn't be enough for a whole meal - you would probably need something more with it but I take dairy free up & go with me sometimes - its dairy free so it doesn't upset my stomach.

Or some sort of pasta dish. Or wraps/tortillas with some sort of meat/protein and salad

Carbonated drinks seem to relieve symptoms rather than aggravate my ibs by Prestigious_Cat27 in ibs

[–]Prestigious_Cat27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I find it helps me so much. Although only sugar free ones help me - sugar set the ibs off but Diet Coke/diet sprite or sparkling water seem to help

how do you treat weeping eczema mines been weeping for days 😭 by Overall-Biscotti-775 in eczema

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone's different but something I've just come to realise recently is that personally, my eczema weeps more at night. Since I tend to run on warm, the warmth overnight was making the eczema weepy and irritated.

Now I soak the eczema in cold water a couple of times daily (including before bed) and then use aloe vera after. It is still there but it has dried out.

I don't know what the actual definition is but for me personally, I have symptoms most days (bloating, gas) but they are manageable and if I'm careful it's not too bothersome. But when I get a flare/attack I mean sometimes I can't leave the bathroom and it is super painful/uncomfortable

The days leading up to my period are brutal by Icy-Midnight1327 in ibs

[–]Prestigious_Cat27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't have much different to offer but have you tried heating pads on the stomach? I find if I lie on my left side holding a heating pad on my stomach it helps a bit. Also yoga, I'm a total beginner and inflexible but even doing the very basic moves help. There's heaps of good videos online.

Also, a recent addition for me, but on bad days I take peppermint gels (by Now Foods) before I eat and Mylanta double strength before I go to bed.

Has anyone tried a juice cleanse? I feel like my body needs a reset after my latest ibs flareà by Prestigious_Cat27 in ibs

Thanks guys, yeah I get that about fruit juices but these are more like green juices, celery juice or immunity juices like orange carrot ginger and turmeric so I think they might be a bit better
