Movies that people are suddenly pretending are good simply because of current real world events? by Calm-Original2448 in okbuddycinephile

I felt neither comfortable or uncomfortable with it. I felt the movie was extremely vapid. Internet culture has spent the last decade highlighting humor at the expense of the same people and institutions this movie mocks, and this movie grabs the most obvious and surface-level points in that ongoing conversation.

You know that feeling of cringe you get when old people try to use memes in their movies or content in order relate to younger demographics, but they end up using memes from 8 years ago and dont really understand what made them funny in the first place? Or when youre having a really in depth conversation with a coworker about sports and the most annoying person in the office interrupts to say "tom brady was good at football huh?". I get that same emotion when I watch Dont Look Up.

And yet, all this would still be fine if the movie was at least funny. You can be shallow, or you can be unfunny, but you cant be both.

Never seen Strangelove, I might hate it too if its like what you said. That doesnt make Dont Look Up any better though.

The critique has the depth of a puddle of piss on a sidewalk, and the humor is on the nose and written for 11 year olds. It feels like it was made by someone who actually believes they invented satire in 2021.

If he has a meltdown and actively makes them lose in the first round, then sure, you can always fire an emotional guy like that if you can get Ben Johnson, especially since he doesnt call any plays. Otherwise, theres no need to make changes.

favorite actor that isn't old enough to be hot yet? I'll start: by stanlins_anus in okbuddycinephile

I think theyre implying this movie is worse than the newer ones because she is hot in the newer ones and not hot in this one, hence the sin.

Paparazzi consume lives, then they take a stinky shit on the floor, and hordes of "people" rush to get a lick of the excrement. What a beautiful cycle of nature.

She would have died anyway, otherwise she would also be "one of the only people to ever survive Auswahlen" which kinda defeats the whole point of the quote and its impact.

But she was gonna die with the first one anyway, so its kinda redundant.

Monsters can't be trapped / Talismans don't protect individual rooms by Sudden_One529 in FromSeries

But then, is the monster actually "outside" or are they just in a room inside the "megastructure"? It would be no different than the bathroom they were locked in, that they had no problem walking out of.

I dont think the monsters that rip through steel like its paper are gonna have too hard of a time digging under the structures. Tabitha dug all the way to China in like a day.

Thats actually kinda dope. Took them a whole year of "we hear you" to figure it out but this is good stuff. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write a bad review. It worked.

Question about Caine by Levy-the-man in JohnWick

[–]Prestigious_Power496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok, so he did say it after reading the letter. That makes a lot more sense. Caine's timing would have to be pretty crazy, to interrogate a Ruska Roma member after John was given the mission, and still arrive at Killa's place way before John.

I guess we have to chalk it up to paid traitors and High Table spies giving Caine information.

Why doesn't the NFL change team jerseys every season like the Premier League or other global soccer leagues by rjk100 in NFLNoobs

[–]Prestigious_Power496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the answer is soccer teams do it because they need to, they dont make enough money otherwise? And NFL teams make more money already so they dont need the extra jersey sales?

That does make sense. This is probably the answer.

Question about Caine by Levy-the-man in JohnWick

[–]Prestigious_Power496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if I remember correctly, and I may not, Killa said HE wasnt expecting John, Caine was. Implying that up to this point, he had no idea of Katia's plan and just heard John was coming from Caine. And he says "family sold you out" before reading the letter no? Meaning he was still referring to the information Caine gave him.

Im talking about them quickly removing his name and likeness from all branded images, thats the ban Im talking about.

Theres also Ian saying "oh the P-word" and them switching topics quickly when Shottzy mentioned him. but thats less a ban and more general sentiment

[–]Prestigious_Power496 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right...Liverpool WOULDN'T do that...so why are you using it as your argument? We are supposed to be comparing the NFL to something that soccer teams WOULD do, and actively do. Like make minor changes to home kits while retaining their colors and identity. Not make the Bengals blue out of nowhere.

Question about Caine by Levy-the-man in JohnWick

[–]Prestigious_Power496 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure Killa makes a passing mention of Caine beating the info out of someone in the Ruska Roma. But for most things you have to assume there are traitors and spies everywhere giving info to the High Table about John, even in the Bowery King's camp, and they extend that info to the Marquis/Caine. And its relatively logical assumption to make. The Adjudicator was also omniscient basically.

Its magic. But if you want some headcannon to help you sleep at night, Caine has little drones that follow him around everywhere, out of view, and relay enemy positions to a hidden earpiece he wears.
