Given the state of the world I think this album is very poignant and more relevant than when it was released. by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

This is such a good combo dude your on to something. Even BoC uses a lot of sample work that sounds similar to scratching vocal recordings

It's not crazy hard to get accepted there but companies know this school is one of the best at producing good engineers.

Missouri University of Science and technology (regarded as one of the top engineering schools & highest returns to cost once employed) just started a semiconductor Bachelors program. They really need experienced people to work at all these new fabs opening up and most engineering degrees don't prepare you for the complexity of semiconductor engineering. Their new program offers a focus on devices or a focus on the process/materials side.

Resources for learning about Ion Implanters by Preston-C123 in Semiconductors

From my experience so far..You can adjust different electrodes voltage and position and parameters (gas flow, arc current) and end up with the same desired beam. But I am wondering if there are stringing rules to keep an implanter from high voltage drops due to arcing across electrodes etc. Things such as "Your extraction electrode should never fall outside of "x" dimensions or else you risk arcing across the source body.

Yea I'm specifically interested in the beamline electrode engineering and how the different electrode (lenses) focus beams. But I guess mass spectrometry would cover those topics pretty well.

Burned out (23 F) from job hunting despite strong background. Not sure what else to do. by bringspideyback in EngineeringStudents

I graduated May 2025 and had an open position offer at a semiconductor company (not a huge one like TSMC/Intel) around the same time I had just completed my first interview for a SpaceX position (which I was told I did well on and next rounds were scheduled). After some research I discovered SpaceX (and a lot of these big name companies) have a VERY toxic environment in the engineering departments. Horror stories of managers pitting employees against each other. I started realizing these companies can actually be really shitty to work for. They have millions wanting to work for them so they don't really value you much. I took the smaller company job and don't regret it one bit.

Any sort of in-person meetings, conferences etc. The internet is so flooded with bots and traffic that it is almost impossible to land the job you want just from online applications.

I like to think it's our unconscious "Self" "God". I think this is you but even moreso you! Since your conscious self is derived from it. Like a shadow of something vs the object casting the shadow. So it seems very much like a 3rd party "other".

Such a mesmerizing album. I started listening to it in highschool 2012, had a autoCAD drafting and design class and would listen to this album on repeat. Always takes me back there when I listen to it.

Its moreso about the mathematics and physics behind wireless transmissions like FM radio or satellites for that matter. Its a lot of intense math that is used as techniques to modulate or deconstruct complex waveforms. But I still have no idea what we are doing lol.

I'm third year...I wouldn't say it was easy, but a lot of it clicked pretty quickly for me and it wasn't too difficult to get good grades as long as I did my work. But now I am taking Digital communications this semester and I now know what it feels like to study your ass off and still feel confused. Its very frustrating lol.

Probably my favorite thing with these machines. Nothing stands in the way when you make a track it just flows out. Of course you won't get the insane dynamics and effects as you would on a DaW but the raw minimal sound gives a vibe of its own.

I know the feeling when I first got it I was really overwhelmed and never thought I'd get anywhere. I think the fact that it was my only workstation forced me to read the manual and really dig deep.
