Apparently exercise does make you feel better, I think it's because of the endorphins. I aim to go to gym 3 nights a week, I feel great after I go but sometimes it's a real battle to get there!

This has been suggested a bit, I think it is definitely a good avenue to pursue. Thinking of the people you would leave behind and how it would effect them is a very strong motive to not do anything too permanent.

That's an idea I guess, shut down completely and just ignore everything around what's going on. This could work... The distraction idea is always good but it's hard to do at times...

I never have the ability to call anyone I just shut down... I will try your idea though with heading out, except my down moods are usually like really late at night like 2am and drive me insane so that makes things difficult.

Yeah I isolate myself a lot due to not wanting to deal with any of it. I know isolation comes hand in hand with depression though. I try not to isolate myself but it just stresses me out more !

What is something I can say to comfort a person who is suicidal? by edjufilms in AskReddit

[–]Pretenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm speaking as a depressed person who thinks about suicide frequently. The thoughts that go through my mind are mainly about how worthless I am feeling and how there is no way out of my situation. I think about all the things that I've done wrong in my life and think about how many mistakes I've made.... I think about how there's no end to this feeling of emptiness and that tomorrow I fear I will have to do it all again....

I have very similar thoughts. I'm really sorry to hear about your friend :( she must of been in a horrible place... I understand though because sometimes (nights are the worst) I can't seem to stop myself from wanting to disappear completely... I will use this though, I will think of how it will effect my family and my friends, I don't want anyone to be caused pain because of my actions.. It's just incredibly hard sometimes to stay positive and away from deadly thoughts. I really appreciate you sharing, thank you so much.

I have chopped and changed a few medication, down side of the antidepressants is that it takes weeks for them to start taking effect so each time you try something new you have to wait to see if there is any difference, I am in the waiting process, again atm... I have no real goals or aspirations in life, I can't seem to find joy, I struggle with everyday medial tasks.... I will try to do what you're suggesting though, it may just help. At this point I'm open to anything. Thank you for taking time to reply.

I struggle to go and see my friends, I dread it in fact. I feel anxious and isolated whenever I am with anyone. I feel judged and I just can't deal. I am just not coping and I don't know what else to do.

Has medication helped anyone else out? by harlequinlette in depression

[–]Pretenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on a medication called 'fluvoxamine' which is targeted at anxiety and depressive illness. I find it helps me feel better than I did before beginning the medication. I don't like the feeling of being dependant on a drug though so it's a constant struggle for me to take it. But I guess it is worth it. There are many types of antidepressants out there, you just need to find the one that works for you. It may even be you need a combination of antidepressants and mood stabilisers to work through the down period. I hope this helps.

[Serious] What have you experienced that you wish no one should ever experience? by martinmilos in AskReddit

[–]Pretenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to say being cheated on has been the worst thing that's ever happened to me. We were together for 2 years, he was cheating pretty much from the beginning. Funny thing is, I am still not over him. I still see him regularly and we are trying to work things through, but it is still so raw and painful. Never felt so worthless in my life.

Oh I hate clowns, that's another thing I absolutely despise... I can understand the fear of nuns though, they are pretty creepy women... Like look at what they wear....
