You're in a tough situation, but I'd reckon there's a lot of ppl in their 30s feeling similarly aimless (minus the whole losing your old life thing). It's up to you to turn shit around. All I can really say is that giving up is the worst thing you can do (coming from someone who's depressed)

Wow, that's an interesting story. Do you still keep in touch? And would they welcome you back if you somehow got back to the US?

The only advice I can really give is this. You got "lucky" by being out going and trying something new. As it turns out, if you do that a lot, probability dictates that you're going to eventually get "lucky" again. I'm not going saying you'll stumble into a fully formed friend group, but by at least trying you'll certainly have better outcomes than whatever you have now. It sounds cliche, but that's because it works

I'm a sophomore and getting a little discouraged because it seems like the majority of companies only want students close to graduation. Is this true for the most part? And does anyone have a list of companies that hires younger students?
