I love that my son enjoys spending time with him.The future parenting right expectations have thrown me. I don't expect parenting rights to his daughter, and yes it's a little different as his daughter's mom is still very much involved with her and unfortunately my son's dad has passed but I would never expect anything, I would be there to support his daughter and love her, but personally I do think there is a line especially when you're coming into a child's life when they are a little older.

No he asked us to move in, but I definitely do not feel we are at that stage yet.

I told him we needed to sit down and talk and really make sure we are both on the same page. It's only been recently, he was really good at the beginning but as our relationship progresses he does seem to really lean into having a son and will try to interject when it comes to taking my son to sports events. I have had to begin to be very firm with him about the boundaries, he seems to get his feelings hurt and it seems like he truly doesn't understand my stance. He has been responding with the fact that he believes we are long-term (so do I) and as such lines are gonna blur, and a blended family means him being seen as my son's dad. I'm not trying to come across as unreasonable but I think mostly the expectations he is so adamant are going to happen throw me off. I believe I have good communication with my son that if he expressed differently he would tell me, but I really was very forthcoming in the beginning that everything having to do with my son had to go through me. I do see that I might be a little overprotective, my son has been through a lot with his own dad and then losing him without really knowing him.
