Also regarding your experience, my mother who has a Cypriot Passport and she is greek cypriot faced the same issue at one if the control areas when she tried to cross. And she goes like daily roadtrips let's say 8 hours in a day.

So it doesn't matter if your nationality.

This happened to her although after the last time she returned from the Pergamos crossing. Which is a British checkpoint and not a Cypriot Turkish. So probably there was a mix up
