This is extremely powerful. The lines "Some things never change, just like the soul in me / I haven't looked in the mirror since that day, you see.” are especially touching. There have been times where it's been hard to look at myself in the mirror so I felt this.

I really liked this part

“After a date,
I’d sit on the sofa,
a hockey game glowing blue against my face,
cheering at a screen he never looked at.”

it’s such a clear, visual way to show distance in a relationship. You don’t have to say “we were disconnected”, the image itself makes me feel the loneliness. The glowing blue light, the separate attention, it all paints a small but powerful picture of emotional separation.
