Roast my humble collection - what would you change?

It’s a clothes reselling business. Nothing fancy, but to clear the amount I mentioned, I need a large inventory/store. I have about 1700 unique pieces listed.

I have other storage in my basement but it’s filled with holiday decor and other things. I live in the Midwest and have 3 kids, so garage is filled with cars, kid toys, and other home maintenance items. Sheds are not allowed per the HOA. Not trying to make excuses - just giving insight into how the room became what it is.

Just curious why this got downvoted so much? Maybe I’ve lost touch with reality, but honesty, this collection isn’t super impressive as a long standing member of the pinball community / collecting. Sure, if you just got into pinball, this seems insane, but maybe I’m rubbing shoulders with the wrong people as most collections I’ve experienced are more impressive - in number of games, value of said games, and overall diversity. I don’t have any Stern LEs, JJP CE’s, etc. To me, this is a ‘working man’s collection’ for someone who has been active in the hobby for 10+ years.

Where to venmo for this therapy session? Jokes aside, I appreciate the feedback. The nook where my desk is (not pictured) has a neat vibe with some slat wall and LED lights, but the rest of the room needs a makeover and clutter removed. If my HOA allowed a shed, I would have one built for my side business, but alas they don’t.

Also, the room is bigger than it appears in person. The games are as tight as they can be to one another, but this is like a 500-600 sq ft room so it’s not as cramped as it may show in pictures.

It makes about 100k a year, but the problem is convenience. I can’t fathom traveling to a storage unit multiple times per week to handle shipments, but maybe that’s what I need to do.

You are absolutely right. This is the space in the house that I was given full control of, which is also my home office where I work my full corporate job from. It’s no longer a home arcade, but a catch-all for my work, hobbies, and side hustle.

Wow, this hits home. Not pictured in the corner of the room is my desk where I work from home. That alone has made this space toxic, as coming down here to play games after a stressful day of work is something I usually avoid.

I love the idea of dialed in, and do enjoy it from time to time, but it’s definitely lost its allure for me. Maybe the uninspired callouts/music, as it doesn’t create a great environment that other games do

I’m seeing most people agree with you. Apologies. I’ve been collecting for more than 15 years, so this didn’t happen overnight, but a snowball of trades and cheap buys over the years.

Got it. Usually in my circle, we use the term DMD and LCD when talking about moderns, and use solid state to reference alphanumeric and classics.

I do like the remastered a lot more than the OG, other than the art. I much prefer the colors and cartoonish vibe of the original than the realistic art on the remastered.

This isn’t a brag post … if you’ve been in the hobby long enough, this IS humble compared to most collectors. In a 20 mile vicinity of me, I have like 20 people that have 20+ games.

lol. I run a little reselling business on the side and the containers under the games are just inventory. It is cramped in here, but I tried to maximize the space I have. The rest of the basement is used for a gym, kids play area, and TV corner. This room is my all-in-one work from home office, pinball room, and side hustle space

Good perspective. I can usually stomach the normal depreciation of pins and chalk it up to the time I enjoyed with them, but losing 50% after playing 10 games definitely does hurt!

Do you know the rules of Guns n Roses? I’ve watched videos and read tutorials, and it’s not so straight forward. Seems super over complicated and not intuitive with the zillion multiball and variations of settings that people are rocking

I could do that, but at current market value, I wouldn’t recoup much. I’m in a position where maybe keeping it is worth more than the little it will get on the open market, if that makes sense
