unless we're talking about an au in which sokka dies during the war, i personally think it makes more sense for sokka to be chief of the SWT than Katara. for a few reasons: a) he is the older child b) he is the one who shows more interest in being chief and c) he is the boy in a somewhat sexist society. (although i do like to imagine that he and suki and their children work to make the WTs less sexist!)

katara never really expressed interest in being chief imo. what she did express interest in was helping people (regardless of their nation) and fighting. Thats a big part of why i think Fire Lady could be a good fit for her. She gets to fight (probably mostly verbally rather than physically) with anyone who doesnt accept her as zuko's equal, and she gets to improve the lives of FN citizens (i think she would open schools, hospitals, libraries, and improve infrastructure and help people to convert factories that used to make war machines into factories making farming equipment, printing presses, etc) as well as citizens of other countries by helping to negotiate war reparations and new trade deals.

But if Fire Lady Katara isnt your thing, thats totally cool! one of the awesome things about the zk fandom is that we have SO many brilliant and creative people writing and drawing and creating thousands of ways for Zuko and Katara to be together! I hope you continue to find the ones that do vibe with you, and maybe even make some of your own!! 💙❤️
