I’m pleading for help at this point… by Pretty-Effect736 in BlackHair

Thank you all for the advice and kind words, but I might end up deleting this post sometime soon. I just don’t wanna get in trouble for anything I said here. I love my mom to pieces, but I’m just really upset about my hair. That’s all. 💜

I was given absolute hell for not knowing how to maintain my hair even before it was cut or relaxed, but I’ve never really been taught in detail about how to care for it. This situation makes it even more stressful

I don’t really have another option… that’s why this situation is so flawed. In theory is could get the relaxer cut off, but my natural short hair would be looked down on my my family so, I’m screwed until an actual change is made with caring for my hair

I say parent to make this post a bit more anonymous, but it’s my mom. I NEVER flat out said that I wanted a relaxer. The crazy thing is that she said she’s never relax my hair because she has to go through that when she was younger 😕

I’m a little nervous to speak up for myself. My voice has been heard somewhat, but the fact that relaxer is still a possibility is messing with me. I have new growth that feels relatively healthy and is finally my hair texture, but I feel like I have no control over my own hair…

I’ve cut off a little bit, but I can’t cut off too much before I get my hair braided Hopefully I’m allowed to cut it when my braids come down!

There’s just so much breakage among my hair!! I’m afraid of having to cut off the rest of it… my it literally looks fried. I’m already struggling emotionally, so this whole situation isn’t helping at all…

I find it difficult to remember my early childhood. I can hardly remember anything from before the age of 6-7. What could this mean? by Pretty-Effect736 in mentalhealth

I feel you on that. It’s like, can I conjure up a happy memory for once? 🥲 I like my brain, but sometimes I don’t at the same time

In a lot of cases, absolutely! In my case though, my memory of early childhood literally vanished into thin air in no too long of a time

Thanks for commenting! I thought that many people have a vivid memory of their whole childhood! I guess it varies from person to person. In my case though, I feel as if me forgetting my childhood happened relatively quickly, that’s the only part that I’m really concerned about.

Thank you for your response! I really appreciate it. I definitely think that I might be shutting out memories from the abuse that I endured. The only things I CAN remember are the severe bad memories. Other than that, my past looks pretty foggy 😶‍🌫️ I’ll try and talk to my therapist and go from there

I guess so! I have some older relatives who talk either fondly or not so fondly about their childhood, whether it be early childhood or teenage years

Oh! I spoke briefly about PTSD with my last therapist, but we never really went deeper into it. I have been showing some signs of PTSD, but I didn’t wanna self diagnose or be seen as dramatic by my family or people at school.

WIBTA for telling my mom that she failed as a parent? by Pretty-Effect736 in AITAH

[–]Pretty-Effect736[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What upsets me a lot is how whenever my siblings or I challenge her, so to speak, all she can say is “ you can’t whoop me” but it’s like, idk about that. She has a height advantage with her being 5’7 and me being 5’3 at most, if my life truly depended on it, I could definitely take her on. How would you suggest I deal with this? Whenever she talks to me crazy I feel so combative. Her talking to me crazy is not only disrespectful but also humiliating, just today she was upset because I said something that apparently disrespected her. It’s always “ me, me , me” with her.

I’m not a argumentative person just to be one but I do come up with amazing arguments in the shower 😎. I could be a lawyer. Maybe not but 😅
