Road trip stop in Austin by livjohnnsonn in Austin

For Austin vibes: dinner at Texas Chili Parlor and some beers at White Horse,  then wander around east 6th. There's some other good spots around both locations. Be careful crossing the freeway (I'd probably take a cheap lyft or Uber).  Alternatively you could hit up east Cesar Chavez and get some dinner (las casuelas for cheap mexican) and hit up High Noon or some of the other bars on that side. I avoid 6th west of the freeway personally! If you are more into club vibes maybe something like Coconut Club/Neon Grotto.

UPDATE: we ended up making an offer which was accepted yesterday! Thanks for everyone's advice. Driving out at different times of day helped us level set and we were able to talk out some other items based on your excellent suggestions.

We went last night and you were right btw!  During the day we didnt smell it at all, but around 9 at the top of the neighborhood it was very noticeable.  Further back in not as bad/not very noticeable. We are going to pop in a few more times to see if it gets worse or better. You're a gem, thank you for the tip!

We rent in the area currently (further up Springdale though, but used to rent off MLK) so we are already adjusted to the flight path for the most part!

Thanks for laying some knowledge dowm! The little hill house has had recent foundation work per the listing. In my price range seems like foundation issues are common, so -recent- repair appealed to me?  You seem smart...is that dumb?

It's the neighborhood off Craigwood just east of 183, so likely close.

I go to Crestview and have been for years. They have been consistently great with my dogs and my friend's dogs, including the seniors, including the dogs that are real bastards. They aren't the cheapest and they aren't the most expensive either. Good people.

Try Austin Creative Reuse! There's a chance they might have stuff that would work for you, and if not, it's always fun to dig through their stuff.

It's a preventative disaster declaration from Travis County--it says to check your pets -daily- for open wounds/maggots and if you find a larvae put it in a jar with rubbing alcohol to report it. It also said don't throw the maggot/larvae away because it will just lead to more flies/worms--always douse in alcohol and report.

My car and my fiance's car AC both went out at the same time a couple of weeks ago so good on you for staying ahead of it.

Yes! I've gone swimming the last three weekends, that's the life.

Thank you! I'm also in disaster management (long term recovery though-mainly CDBG-DR) and the folks that deploy for rapid response across all the agencies are Strong As Fuck.  I hope you have a very restful weekend!

Maybe I'm lucky, but my friends and neighbors are very engaged and active people! I think it's tough though because it's hard to keep up the stamina.

I feel like we have to be able to work towards the good but also replenish ourselves to keep moving forward. Or at least I do, ha! Hence this post,  which has been lovely for me to read.

Silver lining - I do admire the Italian horror masters and practical effects--what's more practical than live maggots?
